Further to the recent post on ‘History and Web 2.0 tools’ I wanted to inform people of the excellent iWalk MP3 recordings which are available for Dublin and Cork. Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Dublin City Council and Cork City Council have created a number of podcasts on different historical topics for both cities which could be used at both primary and secondary level. The iWalks are FREE downloadable MP3 files which can be loaded onto any MP3 player. For each iWalk there is an information PDF file which includes a map of the walk in question. There are 13 Dublin walks which include: Georgian Dublin, Castles and Cathedrals, Viking and Medieval Dublin and many more interesting walks. There are two Cork walks: Flavours of Cork and Creative Cork.
Next year should see the launch of some iWalks for Galway. The iWalks and their maps could be used for history, geography and art.
