While exploring the Teachnet blog recently, I came across several articles on Edpuzzle, from the power of video in the classroom to integration with Google Classroom. For many years, Edpuzzle’s unique selling point was making any video interactive. I first explored Edpuzzle when I tried to break down the different stages of the Mass for a class I was preparing for Confirmation during the COVID-19 pandemic! Since then, this interactive video feature has gradually appeared in other educational technology tools. However, Edpuzzle’s suite has evolved rapidly in response.
At the centre of this transformation is Edpuzzle’s AI-powered Teacher Assist suite. One standout addition is the AI Question Generator, which automatically analyses video transcripts to generate context-aware multiple-choice and open-ended questions in seconds. This can save you a lot of time, but always review the output to check accuracy and personalise it for your students. The Guidance on Artificial Intelligence in Schools (2025) states that ‘teachers and school leaders must act as the final checkpoint, systematically reviewing and validating all AI generated outputs to ensure accuracy and reliability’ (p.13).
However, the feature that appeals most to me is Edpuzzle Docs. This tool lets you import PDFs, Google Docs, or text files directly into the platform to turn reading materials into active learning exercises. By combining text-based materials with question generation, teachers can embed checks for understanding, polls, and scaffolding directly into written content. Edpuzzle Docs also include built-in accessibility options such as customisable text, adjustable background colours and text-to-speech readers to help every student engage with the material based on their own preferences.
You can try this feature for free and create up to 20 AI-assisted resources. Perhaps give it a try today!
Edpuzzle’s free Basic plan allows you to store up to 20 resources (including interactive Docs, video lessons, and quizzes) in your content library at no cost.
