The Raspberry Pi Foundation is inviting primary and post-primary educators to a free hands-on Experience CS workshop in Athlone this October. Developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in collaboration with Google DeepMind, Experience CS is a free cross-curricular educational programme designed to help all teachers, regardless of their background in computing, bring creative and engaging digital learning experiences to their students. The programme combines research-informed teaching approaches with practical classroom resources, ready-to-use lesson plans, project-based units, and professional learning opportunities. Importantly for Irish schools, Experience CS resources have now been mapped to the Irish curriculum, making it easier for teachers to integrate computing and digital skills across a range of subject areas and learning contexts.

Experience CS uses the Scratch programming platform and is designed to help students develop computational thinking, creativity, problem-solving skills, and digital confidence through engaging, hands-on activities.
Face-to-face Workshop in Athlone
To showcase the programme and its resources, the Raspberry Pi Foundation is hosting an introduction to the programme and practical workshop at the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone on Friday, 2 October.
The event will include:
- An introduction to Experience CS and its curriculum connections
- Practical hands-on workshops for primary and post-primary educators
- Opportunities to explore classroom-ready resources
- Refreshments and networking with fellow teachers
Registration opens at 1:30pm, with the first session beginning at 2:00pm. The workshops will conclude at approximately 5:15pm.
Whether you’re already teaching coding and digital technologies or simply curious about how computing can be integrated into your classroom, this event offers a practical introduction to a programme that has been developed by experts in computing education and adapted for the Irish education context.
