CESI Conference 2012 – TEACHnology: merging teaching and technology in schools

The Computers in Education Society of Ireland (CESI) will host its annual conference on February 24th and 25th, 2012, in Portlaoise. The theme for this year’s conference is TEACHnology: merging teaching and technology in schools.

imageAs has become the format for CESI conferences over the last few years, there will be both a Friday evening and Saturday event. On Friday February 24th (7pm-9pm) there will be a CESImeet in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise. CESImeets are informal events which feature a number of short presentations (the majority are of seven minutes or two minutes in duration) and plenty of opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas. You can get a sense of the format for CESImeets from this link.. http://animoto.com/play/MTLhX93oro2JDv6CwhzxGw

The main event takes place on Saturday (February 25th) in Portlaoise College. There will be the usual mix of presentations and workshops, along with a chance to meet with experts and novices alike in the use of educational technology. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Steve Wheeler, Associate Professor of Learning Technologies at Plymouth University. Steve specialises in research on e-learning and distance education with particular emphasis on social media and Web 2.0 tools, has authored more than 150 scholarly articles and is an active blogger and tweeter.
