Announcing our Summer 2010 Courses for Primary Teachers

​Following on the great success of our courses last summer, we are busy working on a range of new courses for primary teachers.  We are delighted to announce that the TeachNet CPD to run 12 courses this summer. All of our courses are written “by teachers, for teachers”, include interactive modules, make use of videos and podcasts and can be taken at any time during the summer between July 1st and August 27th.  You will need to complete at least 20 hours online for the course and contribute to the course discussion.  We provide tailored support by email and on the phone when required.  

The summer 2010 courses available are:

  • Getting Started – Computer Basics for Teachers

  • Getting Started – Photos and Music for Teachers
    Learn how to start using a digital camera, organise digital photos, digital music and podcasts (for beginners).
  • Getting the Most from your Projector and Laptop
    Learn how to use your laptop (or classroom PC) and projector in practical and stimulating ways.
  • Getting the Most from your Interactive Whiteboard (generic)
    Explore practical uses of the Interactive Whiteboard in your classroom and learn how to create your own resources.
  • Getting the Most from your Smart Interactive Whiteboard
    Explore practical uses of the Smart Interactive Whiteboard in your classroom and learn how to create your own resources.
  • Getting the Most from your Promethean Interactive Whiteboard
    Explore practical uses of the Promethean Interactive
    Whiteboard in your classroom and learn how to create your
    own resources.
  • Creating Digital Resources for the Primary Classroom
    Learn how to work with digital photography, digital storytelling, multimedia presentations and much more.
  • Being Creative with Blogs, Podcasts and other Web2.0 Tools
    Learn about Web 2.0 tools (e.g. blogs, wikis and podcasts) and how to use them in your classroom.
  • Developing Literacy through Digital Storytelling
    Learn about using ICT to improve literacy skills through a range of practical literacy activity approaches.
  • ICT and Special Education Needs
    Explore the importance of ICT in assisting pupils with SEN and a range of simple steps to enhance the learning experience using ICT.
  • Effective e-Learning Planning for your School
    Explore a range of tools and techniques to develop your ICT school plan and maximise your ICT investment (for advanced users).
  • Cloud Computing to Support School Planning
    Explore the potential uses of cloud computing services including email, scheduling and online file collaboration and storage (for advanced users).

There’s a course for every level of ICT proficiency. Looking back on some of the teacher comments from last summer, the response to our courses was overwhelmingly positive – I’ve included a sample of them here, but there are many more.
