AI Unlocking the Full Potential of the Interactive Flat Panel

Over 35,000 members of the global education community came together to share ideas, spark connections, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in education at this year’s Bett show in London recently. Over 600 exhibitors showcased the latest in EdTech, and some 3,000 students immersed themselves in a world of possibility. One of the trends that I noticed this year though was the emergence of interactive flat panels for the classroom with built-in AI features.

Interactive flat panels are not new to the education space, but their integration with AI marks a significant leap forward. These cutting-edge tools have been replacing traditional whiteboards and projectors in the classroom over the last number of years, offering a more dynamic, engaging, and inclusive learning experience for all. But now AI is set to unlock the full potential of interactive flat panels in 2025. By integrating advanced AI features, panels are becoming smarter, more interactive, and more user-friendly. With capabilities like language translation, gesture recognition, and object tracking, these displays are transforming the way teachers and students can work, learn, and collaborate in today’s classroom

The message from this year’s BETT is that many new interactive panels in 2025 will offer AI-powered tools for education, simplifying tasks like lesson planning, quiz creation, and video summarization.

Newline interactive panels, for example, now with Merlyn AI as part of the hardware, allow users to control their panels with only their voice and leverage the power of generative AI to deliver text and images to the panel with ease.

Samsung Electronics has also unveiled its new AI-powered interactive display at Bett 2025. Through the embedded Samsung AI Assistant, the new education-focused displays combine advanced hardware and cutting-edge AI capabilities to create smarter learning environments that are more engaging and collaborative.

The new Samsung panels have a built-in AI assistant and include several innovative educational tools, such as:

  • Circle to Search instantly delivers search results from trusted sources when users simply circle on-screen images or text, making exploration during class effortless.
  • AI Summary creates concise lesson recaps automatically, making lesson planning easier for teachers and simplifying post-class reviews for students.
  • Live Transcript converts spoken words into text in real time for students to revisit and reinforce their classroom lessons.
  • The AI assistant can generate multimedia content, videos, graphics, and text, within seconds. This enables teachers to customise the content, create lesson plans, and deliver richer, more engaging classes.
  • Teachers can also conduct assessments, such as summarising videos or generating questions tailored to specific grade levels.

BETT 2025 reminded us that education technology is not just about innovation for its own sake; it’s about creating tools that empower educators and inspire students. This year’s show has shown us a glimpse of the future when it comes to interactive flat panel technology. Expect all the big players in this area to follow suit.
