Towards a STEM Education Policy Statement and Implementation Plan for Schools
The Department of Education and Skills are currently developing a STEM Education Policy Statement and Implementation Plan for Schools. The Department’s work in this area is being informed by the STEM Education in the Irish School System report.
The report contains 47 suggested actions that the Department should undertake to enhance the STEM learning in schools. One chapter of the report focuses on the role digital technology can play in the promotion of STEM learning.
The Department has been engaged in a series of ongoing consultations in recent weeks with young people, teachers, parents and key education stakeholders around the actions contained in the STEM Education in the Irish School System. In addition, they have an online consultation survey that focuses on a set of the key actions. This consultation will close today, June 15th, but if you have time visit the Department’s webpage to share your views on these actions and on how STEM education can be enhanced in the future.
