In the first episode of the new academic year in our TeachNet Learning Podcast series, Pat Brennan is joined by Frank Ó Tormaigh, Digital Education Officer with COGG – An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta, to talk us through An Tairseach, COGG’s growing one-stop web portal for Acmhainní agus Tacai do Mhúinteoiri, teaching Irish at primary and second-level.
Whilst COGG’s primary responsibility is to cater for the educational needs of Gaeltacht schools and of Gaelscoileanna, an Tairseach by design, casts it’s net further and has been developed to support all teachers, teaching Irish in all schools, across the country. Over the course of the discussion, Frank charts the journey to date of An Tairseach from inception and details development plans for the new academic year and beyond. He also explains that key to the portal’s success has been the sharing (And adapting) of teacher-created resources and throughout the podcast Frank reiterates COGG’s commitment to continue on this path, inviting interested teachers to get in touch about sharing existing resources and developing new content.
