Engineers Week 2023 starts this Saturday, March 4th and runs until March 10th. Now in its 17th year, STEPS Engineers Week provides students with the opportunity to discover engineering, facilitated by their teachers, parents and local community. A weeklong festival of events to celebrate the world of engineering in Ireland. with primary and secondary students, the target audience.
This annual showcase is to raise awareness of what engineers do and, the possible career paths young people can take and most importantly the positive difference engineering can make to our future, that of the planet and everything else in between. Throughout the Week, primary and secondary school teachers are encouraged to engage with engineering resources in the classrooms to help their students discover the exciting world of engineering with the support of a comprehensive resources section for Primary and Second level, including downloadable resources, challenge packs and on-demand engineering shows. Engineering companies, third-level institutions and the public sector are also encouraged to get involved and engage with schools about engineering in in their local communities.
How to get involved?
Just visit engineersweek.ie and choose either Primary Schools or Secondary Schools for a host of challenges, hands-on activities, quizzes, on-demand content and much more, relevant to your students. Teachers are also being encouraged to Register any events or activities they are planning for next week and to share photos and videos of their engineering activities in progress.
Engineers Week 2023 is coordinated by Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme and is funded by the Department of Education and Skills, ARUP, the Environmental Protection Agency, ESB, Intel and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
