Fancy a Generative AI ‘Ready Meal’?

Picture this: you’re feeling a little overwhelmed right now as we approach the end of the first month back in the classroom, September?! Juggling class prep, reviewing class work and giving feedback. Wearing the interchangeable hats that go hand in hand with the role of a teacher; the counsellor to the entertainer, walking a tightrope exuding calm through the occasional existential crisis (you know, the usual). Now imagine walking into your kitchen, only to find a pre-cooked, gourmet meal sitting on the counter, ready to go. No prep, no fuss – just heat and serve. Sounds amazing, right?

Well, educator friends, that’s basically what Khanmigo is offering as it promises to “Knock something off your to-do list in minutes”. Except, instead of a lasagna you can eat in front of the TV, it’s a digital learning tool designed to whip up learning intentions and lesson plans, assessments, and rubrics faster than you can say “Where did I leave my coffee?”.

Earlier this month, Pat Brennan introduced Khanmigo here on the blog. The potential of this tool puts it back on the menu for my post this week. If you are a read the label, instructions person check out his post linked here for a quick start guide.

Welcome to the Future, Folks!

Let’s be honest, teaching can at times be one part inspiration and ninety-nine parts perspiration. While we love inspiring minds, the sheer volume of routine admin tasks (hello, prep!) can sometimes make us feel like human photocopiers. Enter Khanmigo, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) tool, is like having your own personal assistant, always ready with an educated response or a well-designed lesson plan – minus the awkward small talk.

Think of Khanmigo as your educational sous-chef. It does the heavy lifting with class prep, so you can do what you’re best at: actually, spending time teaching and learning with your students where the magic happens.

“But What About My Creativity?”

Ah, good question! You might be thinking: “AI sounds great, but what if it turns me into a teaching robot?” Fear not. Khanmigo is here to assist, not replace. It’s like that helper who chops all your vegetables, but you still get to add the secret ingredient which, in this case, is you and your teaching toolkit.

As Educators it’s our time to learn – AI is here to stay!

Carol Dweck once said, “Love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning.” That’s what using Khanmigo is all about. It’s a tool that lets you focus on teaching, while also making sure you have a little more time to work with students to learn, develop and achieve.

Khanmigo can actually help you to save time, not by cutting corners, but by giving you a little superhuman efficiency. The time you’d spend creating lessons, a quiz or writing learning intentions? Now that time can be yours again. That means more time for interacting with students, building relationships, and maybe – just maybe – catching up on that Netflix queue on a Sunday evening!

Khanmigo is like an AI ‘ready meal’ for education – quick, efficient, and packed with ready to go ideas – this digital tool actually takes the prompt out of prompt crafting!

So, educators, fancy a generative AI ‘ready meal’? Take a seat, this tool will save you time, let Khanmigo cook up something brilliant while you focus on the best part of teaching – your students.

Thanks to an investment and partnership between Microsoft and Khan Academy, Khanmigo is available for free to educators in more than 40 countries around the world, and Ireland is on that list! Are you ready to spice up your lessons?

Bon Appétit!

In this brave new world of generative AI, you can either watch from the sidelines or dive in. Khanmigo is your sous-chef, your ready meal, and your fuelled up classroom assistant.

Select one of the tools on the Khanmigo dashboard and watch as it cooks up a treat for your class. I hereby recommend Khanmigo for the Michelin Guide, give it a go and savour the possibilities!
