CESI Conference 2025: The Power of Bringing Primary, Secondary, Further, and Higher Education Together

Each year, the CESI conference brings together teachers, lecturers, education professionals, and other tech-related personnel to form what I describe as a “community of camaraderie.” What sets CESI apart is its accessibility (it’s not as expensive as other conferences, and it’s held on a Saturday, eliminating work logistics) and its inclusivity (welcoming everyone from primary school teachers to senior lecturers and everything in between).

What is CESI?

CESI (pronounced “Sessy”) is an organisation dedicated to supporting educators in integrating technology into teaching and learning. Whether it’s digital storytelling, coding, or leveraging artificial intelligence in classrooms, CESI provides a platform for educators to share best practices, explore innovative tools, and foster collaboration across all levels of the education system. CESI is driven by a passionate team whose mission is to empower teachers to innovate and grow.

My Experience at CESI 2024: Community, Camaraderie, and Collaboration (with a Dash of Fun!)

Last year, I attended my first CESI conference. Held on a Saturday, it had a relaxed, informal “Saturday vibe” that set the tone for the day. From the moment I walked through the doors, CESI felt like a space where everyone, from seasoned educators to tech newcomers across various sectors, was welcomed as an equal. The sessions were practical and engaging, with a strong focus on real-world applications of technology in education.

Having worked in every stage of the education system, I deeply believe our education system would improve immensely if we recognised the importance of each stage and engaged in meaningful cross-sector dialogue. That dialogue is rare but incredibly valuable! For me, CESI wasn’t just about learning new tools; it was about rethinking pedagogy, exploring the role of technology, and building connections across sectors.

CESI 2025: A Look Ahead

This year’s CESI conference promises to be just as inspiring, if not more so. Scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2025, the event will be held at Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh

(I am also looking forward to stepping foot on this new school building.)

The theme for CESI 2025 builds on last year’s “Navigating Digital Futures.” The conference will feature a mix of keynote presentations (Enda Donlon and Peter Tiernan -Dublin City University), hands-on workshops, engaging discussions, and, of course, the ever-popular Gasta sessions with the one and only Gasta Master, Tom Farrelly → all designed to spark conversations and build our collective power to meet the evolving needs of our students.

Come to learn, share, and join the camaraderie!

Look out for registration opening in February 2025. CESI remains one of the most affordable education conferences around which will give you access to a wealth of knowledge, inspiration, community spirit – and lunch!
