Google’s annual ‘Back to School’ event takes place in Dublin tomorrow. In previous years, this has been an enriching event for educators across both the primary and post-primary sectors. The jam packed agenda now includes optional breakfast boot camps that will take school leaders through the steps to becoming a Google Certified Trainer and how to navigate the Google Admin Console. The event promises a day of learning, innovation and hands-on activities that we can bring back to our schools and classrooms.
Main Sessions
The event will see Irish teachers present on two pertinent and topic areas in Irish education today: transforming the student experience with digital technologies and enhancing teaching and learning with AI [Gemini].
Breakout Sessions
The event will also facilitate a number of breakout sessions that best suit the needs of attendees. These sessions focus on a wide range of topics including: navigating 1:1 Chromebook use, personalising student learning, student portfolios with Google and getting the most out of Google Workspace for Education in the primary setting. One session that has caught my interest in particular is the one focusing on leading a digital strategy around the Irish curriculum. It is crucially important that we can tailor our pedagogical approaches to be in line with our own curricula, and this session promises to offer some helpful tips and guidance on achieving this.
Closing Comments
The event will conclude with input from Barnardos around internet safety, which is hugely important at this time. We will also get to have a sneak peak at some of the latest Google for Education tools that will be rolling out over the coming months. More information around the day, as well as booking information can be found here.
