StudyClix: Exam Revision Website

This is a very short blog – but an important one relating to digital learning. With many AI-generated resources and educational applications on the market, it can become overwhelming to keep up with them all! But, this blog goes back to basics – something I (and many other teachers) have been using for years to help students revise and prepare for exams – that is, StudyClix.

Studyclix is a name you hear whispered in the hallways and shouted across the library. Used by both teachers and students, Studyclix has become one of the most popular study websites. But how does it work, and what exactly can it be used for?

What is Studyclix?

At its core, StudyClix is an online study and teaching tool that breaks down the entire Junior and Leaving Cert curriculum into manageable, topic-by-topic sections. I use StudyClix for creating assessments per topic, flashcards, note taking templates and study planners. It also has student blogs and educational tips and ideas for students to aid them with their revision.

Studyclix offers a suite of features that address the most common study struggles:

  • Exam questions by topic: This is the heart of the platform. For every topic in every subject, Studyclix collects all past state exam questions, along with their marking schemes. This allows you to focus your revision on specific areas, perfect for class tests and for solidifying your understanding. It can also reduce time flicking through exam papers trying to find relevant questions per topic. In my opinion, the best feature here is that any assessments created are saved for future use, along with the marking schemes.
  • Interactive quizzes: Quizzes are available across numerous subjects to test your knowledge in a fun way! This gamification also helps with memorization of definitions and key facts relating to topics being studied.
  • Flashcards – short flashcard activities are also available for students to either create their own or use cards already created. Students click through the flashcards on a specific topic or definition to help them memorise as they progress through.
  • Planning Template – I often use the weekly and monthly study planners with my students as a foundation for time management, particularly for exam time. I also find the note taking templates very useful for students to summarise keywords, definitions and summaries of topics.

Is it worth the cost?

While Studyclix offers a free “Basic” account with limited features, its full potential is unlocked with a paid subscription. The “Plus” and “Premium” upgrades provide complete access to all mock and state exam questions, unlimited quizzes, and expert solutions.

For students approaching their Junior or Leaving Cert, Studyclix is more than just another study tool. It’s a comprehensive, student-focused platform that genuinely improves grades and reduces exam stress.

By providing accessible, high-quality, and organised resources, it empowers students to take control of their learning and revision. I find it to be a powerful revision tool for my classes, and students have reported positive feedback on using StudyClix for revision.
