Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts Application Time!

It’s that time of year again! MIE Expert self- nominations are open until June 17th for first time nominations and renewals!

Becoming a MIE Expert is a great opportunity for educators to gain recognition for how they use digital technology to enhance teaching & learning in their classroom!

To complete the self-nomination process educators must complete learning pathways on the Microsoft learn platform. These learning pathways are excellent CPD.

They include;

Microsoft Educator Academy

Described as; Focused on best practice and some basics for facilitating a blended or hybrid learning environment, this is the first step in a professional growth journey. This learning path includes 6 modules to get you started on using Microsoft tools in an education setting.

Master Microsoft Teams for any Learning Environment

Learning objective: Describe how the tools in Microsoft Teams assist educators and learners to get the most outside the classroom.

21st Century Learning

Design for Educators builds on the research methodology providing a collaborative, practice-based process to help educators transform how they design enriching learning activities for their learners. The complete series of eight courses consists of videos, reading materials, rubrics for each dimension, and anchor lessons. Educators can actively participate by coding anchor lessons and redesigning their learning activities according to the 21CLD rubrics.

AI for Educators

This learning path explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. It covers a brief history of AI, large language models (LLMs), generative AI, prompt engineering, responsible use of AI, and uses in a class setting. 

Once the learning paths are complete, the application includes two sections;

The first section is short questions to gain basic information about you and share the URL to your Microsoft learn profile to show the badges you’ve earned in the previously mentioned learning pathways.

The second section is comprised of scored questions on how you use Microsoft Education tools, in this section you can also share an example of your use of Microsoft tools by creating an artefact; for example; this can be screenshots of your use of Teams, Sway, OneNote or Forms in a class lesson.
