It is fantastic to hear about a possible visit to a freshwater environment for your students. During the standard ARC day we present a segment on the salmon life cycle as they begin their life as an egg upstream in freshwater environments before traveling downstream to estuaries, and then out to sea. Once it is time for the females to lay their eggs they will return to the exact same place upstream in freshwater where they themselves were once an egg to be fertilized! It could be an interesting thing to discuss with your students should you make that visit with them! 🙂

The ARC resources are a great way to support a whole-school approach to STEM by promoting inquiry-based learning and collaboration among teachers. They also help pupils develop problem-solving skills while exploring real-world issues that are relevant to their local community.

I really like the idea of allowing the students to make video presentations and providing them with the experience of taking full autonomy over their learning and allowing the classroom to become a place where they can explore their own individual interest in this subject area.

Making it a group activity I believe would elevate the exercise even further by allowing them to collaborate. Comparing and contrasting their artistic visions with one another in a casual but educational environment.
