This is fab. The incorporation of counting and scale here is wonderful. Looking at the fact that there are different kinds of stars can be really engaging but of course needs to be hugely simplified.

Sounds brilliant. Glad our BCO PDF was helpful! making aliens is a fan favourite here. I definitely recommend following up by investigating where aliens might come from – exoplanets and getting the children to design their own plants model magic can be brilliant for this!

I really like the idea of splatter painting – could be cool to link these to globular clusters of stars. I would also encourage 3D models where possible, either with tinfoil and card or through clay or model magic.

This is fab. Your point about the straws is particularly useful! Perhaps discussing different cultural interpretations of the constellations might be useful here! Stellarium has an option to change ‘sky cultures’

This sounds amazing! Twinkle twinkle can be great as it shows the difference between planets and stars in our sky! Stars twinkle and planets don’t (mostly because they’re much closer). Stellarium might be useful for your lesson! I especially like the part where you discuss scales and incorporate maths!

This sounds great! We actually have several instances of us trying to communicate with anything that might be out there, Might be nice to get the children to consider how they would communicate and what they think would be important to say.

Sounds lovely. If the children have access to ipads it might be cool to get them to explore the surface of mars with the google earth pro mars option! Also a simulation of driving the curiosity rover.

This sounds wonderful. Children definitely like to be able to see a finished project and have something to take home. It might be cool to explore the constellations and the different culture options on the Stellarium website or app!

This sounds fab! In terms of space and planet simulators WinStars 3 can be great Open Space by NASA is another one. You can also use this software to drive around a simulation of the curiosity rover!
