This sounds fantastic. Considering whether or not fire is alive can bring about interesting discussion! It needs oxygen to survive it burns up things like eating! but it doesn’t reproduce. Also in terms of living on other planets this can be useful!

I love this! Tinfoil, model magic, pipe cleaners are all super helpful when making aliens with children. It can be useful to consider life under extreme conditions on earth like in and around volcanoes for ideas.

This is wonderful! Model magic can be a great sensory shout when making aliens and is in my experience at least, easier to manage than clay! Funky creatures that live in extreme environments on earth might be a good place for children to start brainstorming !

Hi Ciara Love this! What might also be cool to consider is the kind of equipment we send to other bodies and what they require to survive! for example some solar powered rovers on mars didn’t fare so well as mars is covered in dust and has huge dust storms!

Having them make their own constellations is a fantastic idea! Every culture had their own stories for the stars and Ireland was no different see here for your own interest.

I love this! What would be cool to consider is what about the aliens environment dictates aspects of their appearance. Considering all the ways from the artic fox who changes colours with the seasons to the tardigrade (despite being microscopic these guys are sometimes called waterbears) who can survive extreme conditions in space.
HI Riona, I cant recommend enough Stellarium or Open space by NASA (this one is more for planets) for viewing the sky above you as it is without light pollution! Especially if you get stellarium on a tablet or smartphone you can hold it up to the sky and have it orientate !

This sounds fab. It might be worth considering making the aliens to incorporate something tactile if you think your students would engage with that. Model magic is a great shout, also something like Alien eggs covered by sci show can be engaging.
