I think this is a really practical way of using AI and digital tools as part of the School Self-Evaluation process. I particularly like that the focus remains on Assessment for Learning and improving pupil engagement and understanding, rather than simply using technology for its own sake. Using different sources of evidence, such as Learning Accelerators, pupil work, teacher observations and pupil feedback, should give a much clearer picture of what is working well and where improvements are needed.
The focus on oral language is also important, as this can have such a significant impact on reading comprehension and pupils’ ability to express their understanding. I also like the overall aim of developing more independent learners. AfL strategies such as success criteria, self-assessment and feedback could really support this.
Providing in-service training for teachers would be essential too. If teachers are confident using Copilot and the other tools, they could make differentiation, monitoring progress and adapting future teaching much more manageable and effective.
