A Study of Ancient Greece

This is an educational website, constructed for the purpose of teaching the history of ancient Greece to junior certificate students. Presenting information on Ancient Greece through the use of web pages allows the students to explore history with the aid of a modern medium and offers an alternative basis for learning. The associated student learning is facilitated at the students own pace.The use of multimedia and hypertext in the classroom has the potential to change the way that teachers teach and the way that children learn. This project contains a series of lesson plans with associated activities for the students and summary exercises.
Curriculum Addressed
The Ancient Greek Civilisation from the Junior Certificate History syllabus is addressed. The constructivist approach to learning implicit in the website is in accordance with the spirit and ethos of the recent NCCA curriculum guidelines.
