I am looking forward to using khan academy kids with my senior infant class in September. This is how I plan to introduce it on day one.
Get them excited and interested in using it, build it up, make it sound exciting.
Introduce the app and go through all the workings etc.
Work as a whole class on the app together, stopping and discussing it as we go.
Let them have some free play on it themselves, decide on their character etc.
Bring them back together at the end to discuss as a group what they found/used/liked and disliked.
I will keep the sessions short: Limit screen time to 10–15 minutes per session to match young attention spans.
Blend with Activities: Reinforce online learning with physical games, storytelling, and hands-on exercises.
Parental Involvement: Encourage parents to use it at home for continuity.
Align with Curriculum: Choose activities that match Ireland’s Primary School Curriculum, especially in literacy and numeracy. The three stand out tools from this module that I will use going forward are Diffit, Co-Pilot and Gamma.
Diffit will give my EAL students greater access to the curriculum- with over half my class EAL it will be a huge help for both teaching and learning.
Gamma will help me make more specific powerpoints for the lessons I am teaching and I can see myself using it on a daily basis. It will make lessons more engaging and relevent.
Co-pilot image generator I will use for creative writing, oral language and differentiation.
Never used or heard of any of these before this module so delighted with what I have gained from this module.
Gamma, Co-pilot, and Diffit will enhance primary teaching by offering AI-driven tools for personalised learning and resource creation. They help teachers differentiate content, assess understanding, and adapt lessons to individual needs. These platforms save time, boost engagement, and support inclusive, student-centered education aligned with diverse learning styles and abilities. I look froward to using them in Setember.August 2, 2025 at 12:03 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #237304My few take-aways from this module that I will use in my teaching are:
Immersive Reader- I have never used it but it is such a fantastic tool that I cant wait to get going with it in September, I feel like the children will love it and it will help them so much.
Kahoot was my only go to for quizzes- but now i will use MS Forms and Google Forms to create my own which will form a big part of my assessment and its assessment that children love.
And I hope that we never go as far as China have- those poor children, they are not robots, they are kids, a very hard watch.
AI hopefully will transform primary teaching by personalising lessons, identifying student needs, and offering instant feedback. It will reduce teacher workload through automated tasks and enhances engagement with interactive tools. AI supports differentiated learning, helps track progress, and encourages creativity, making education more inclusive, efficient, and tailored to each child’s strengths. These benefits will be huge in the primary education system. The change in the Irish Education system has been huge over the last twenty years since I entered and I can only but wonder what the next twenty years will bring. Educators need to be open to change and embrace it for the good but still remember and use the basics which have worked so well for us.
I am hopeful that AI will reduce my admin work, help me personalise lessons plans and aid me in giving more specific support to SEN pupils.
For students it will hopefully mean more engaging content, more personalised learning and instant feedback for their work.
Schools move at such a fast pace that AI could help us all to keep up, reduce our workload slightly while benefiting all the children in front of us. With careful integration and ethical oversight, AI can enrich education while supporting inclusive, creative, and critical thinking environments for Ireland’s future generations.Lesson Plan: All about Penguins

The poor children. One of the negative side effects of AI. Totally unacceptable, ethics and morals out the window here.
Differences in them can be huge, so impressed by gemini too. I was only a chat gpt user before this course, it has been an eye opener
Teacher here who was also afraid of change but this course is eye opening in the benefits that AI will have for me as a teacher and all the children in front of me. It will also help me in my personal life. I look forward to using many of the above mentioned in my teaching also.
