WOW this was so interesting – great concept. I thought sequence 7 was excellent – Would you trust this?

Really important lesson for children. I would love to bank lots of these lesson ideas. It opens up a whole new world in teaching- doesn’t it!

Yes it seems AI might really help with teacher burnout and save so much time with lesson prep and time management, so we can really focus on teaching and learning in the classroom.

I am 17 years teaching and I feel it is very important my teaching stays relevant and at times as the year progresses I can struggle with creativeness, when trying my best to ensure I am teaching the curriculum, assessing and really engaging with the class – so for me a help in the area of creativeness and fun imaginative lessons will really be so helpful!

I love this idea of digital storytelling in infants. Thank you for sharing those great suggestions!

I loved the Image creator lesson idea used in this module and I can’t wait to give it a try too 🙂

I feel the same regarding SET, you are generally trying to build their confidence and self correcting can be so much better in a small group, learning from themselves and their own ‘mistakes’ I love your idea above!

Just like you Martin, I am excited to try Vidnoz. I have used Pictory in the past and it’s great. I wish as teachers we had more time to teach and learn from each other in the classroom first hand!

I love the idea of a digital story in English, what a way to bring a story to life!

Plan: Meeting a Smart Helper (Intro to AI & Patterns)

Duration: 20 minutesAge Group: Junior Infants

Theme: Sorting and Patterns (Matching everyday items)

Goal: Help children understand that computers can look at patterns and sort things just like we do.

The children will sort objects into groups based on color or shape.Children will understand that a “smart helper”  is a computer program that learns from noticing patterns.

Materials -collection of large colored blocks or counters (red, blue, and yellow). Two hoops or sorting mats.A stuffed toy or a cutout robot face named “BEEP.”Lesson Steps1. Introduction: Meet BEEP the Robot Brain (5 Minutes).

                    2. The Sorting Game: Teaching the Helper (10 Minutes)Place the red and blue blocks in a mixed pile in the middle of the circle.Put out two hoops (one red hoop, one blue hoop).Ask volunteers to help sort the red blocks into the red hoop and blue blocks into the blue hoop.As the children sort, pretend BEEP is “watching” and learning the rule: “Red goes here, blue goes there.”Explain that this is how a smart computer helper learns—by seeing us doing things over and over and recognising the pattern.

I generated this lesson for an infant class based on what we are doing now, our theme is Homes- and we have a focus on sorting and patterns in maths.

Junior Infants – lesson on pattern recognition and ‘smart helpers’.

Ok for me Gemini and OSMO stood out for me. They were two tools that I feel would really benefit the junior end of the school or SET.

OSMO will really make things come to life and some children learn by doing- or most children for that matter.

A challenge may be having the funds to have enough technology to practice these wonderful AI tools, but we are definitely moving forward in schools.

Children that are digitally gifted can really shine using AI and it might be an area they excel especially if other areas of the curriculum/school life are difficult for them.

I played around with Khan academy also, I really like how age appropriate it was, especially in the younger years. I worked on scratch junior last year and look forward to working with RoboGarden this year. I have a boy who I feel exhausted his time on scratch, so RoboGarden will be a lovely new addition.

In a bigger classroom, I always find listening to every child read a challenge and assessing their reading and progress even more of a challenge – I really like Reading Coach to support this. I like the idea of Magic School to create personalised social stories for children with particular needs.

I think AI will help us differentiate better and faster and also push those top group on even more. I find at times it’s the exceptional children we tend to not expand as we can spend a lot of time with children who struggle.

I really like the copilot image creater and I think this will be brilliant for all children and can be easily adapted to suit your classes needs. The interactive nature of these AI tools is phenomenal.

I’m looking forward to using these tools this year and putting them into pracice and seeing AI come to life. Not being scared of it, is a big step forward for me. Moving with the times!

AI can transform the teaching experience and learning postively I think AI has the potential to be a very valuable tool in the classroom. When used properly, it has the ability to reduce workload for teachers – support planning, coming up with new ideas and help to create fun learning experiences for children. Using the right prompts, AI can make lesson planning much more manageable. It can help create yearly plans based on the curriculum, generate lesson plans, produce worksheets, and suggest ways to differentiate activities to meet the varying needs of students in the classroom.

It can help teachers create assessment questions and revision materials, and also provide students with additional support when they are finding a topic particularly difficult- example problem solving in maths.

. It should be seen as a tool to support teaching and learning. Teachers still need to review and fact-check anything AI produces, ensuring that the information is accurate and meets the needs of their students.

AI can make a huge difference in the classroom, particularly when it comes to personalizing learning and helping with our daily workloads. Instead of sticking to a one-size-fits-all approach, adaptive tools allow us to offer true differentiation that meets pupils at their exact level.

Challenges we can face, is children using at home for project work, maybe dimming their creative flair through the ease of AI and causing them to become over reliant on it. Also teaching children to fact check their work.

I was actually fascinated by this course and how much in can impact teachers and children in the future of education. I feel we are really moving in the right direction and AI will enhance the learning experiences of children, their needs and the ability to assess them.

It will become a more personalised learning enviornment in my opinion. For years we have differentiated for children in our classroom, but this can go a step further with additional aid from AI.

We will genuinely be able to work smarter, not harder. We will be able to have individualised maths and reading plans for example with the use of AI tools like mathia and magic school for example.

Within a mater on minutes Chat GPT can come up with exceptional creative ideas to aid us in teaching. At times we can struggle creatively in the classroom and this will bring a new lease of life to learning.
