I like the idea of using CoPilot in this lesson! Something different.
I want to teach Counties of Ireland to my class next year. As an introduction, I would get the children to list as many counties of Ireland and maybe fill in a blank map of Ireland on the board. I’d keep this for a comparison before and after. I plan on using Gamma to come up with a presentation to teach the children all the counties, provinces and where they are on a map. I would use Youtube and Twinkl to help the children learn the counties of Ireland song. I think I would like to use Quizziz as a follow up, whether it be at the end of the lesson or at the end of the week as a recap to test for understanding. I would previously have used Blooket or Kahoot so it was refreshing to get more ideas of Quiz apps. I think it will be a modern approach to teaching counties rather than looking at a map or atlas.
I feel Khan Academy Kids would be a nice one to introduce to my class next year. I have heard about it previously but never actually learned about it in detail so after exploring it more in this module, I can’t wait to try it out. I would start it off by doing a whole class demonstration and maybe show the class a short video of it. I think it’s important to show the kids what it is and explain what it is too. I would then give the class time to play around with it. I think giving the children this exploration time is super important because they can discover their own things they like. Sometimes, they can even figure out more than you could initially! Getting the children to share their favourite thing or maybe something they are looking forward to using in it. Over a few weeks then, I would set the children focused skill practice on what we do in class and at home. I feel this would all be beneficial and something different and modern for the kids.
Hi James, I have taught Scratch before and the kids really enjoyed it! They definitely work on problem solving skills and working in pairs initially will work for sure.
I definitely will be getting use out of Gamma and Diff It. They seem amazing and will save loads of time. The fact that Gamma is visually engaging is cool too,
Part 1
I can’t wait to use Co Pilot with my class to improve their descriptive writing. I did some writing with my class this year and I feel this would be a great way to engage a lot of my learners in the class. I liked the idea of showing a basic description versus a detailed one and showing kids how being more descriptive and precise can add key details to readers. I also enjoyed the part where you can auto translate Youtube videos. I had a girl who had very poor English a few years ago and something like this would have been very beneficial.Part 2
The two I have mentioned will be great to help modernise teaching and learning. I also love the idea of using Diff It and Gamma to save so much time on preparation of lessons and resources. These seem so cool and the quick and easy use of resources could be tweaked to my own lessons and learnings to take place.July 23, 2025 at 7:47 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #234938I really like the idea of using AI tools such as Gemini, Chat GPT and CoPilot to help with lesson planning. I feel these would be excellent prompts and would help even with termly and fortnightly plans helping me to spread out learning and specific learning targets and objectives. They could even be used for Support Plans and helping identify individual learning styles and goals. We lose too much time and using something like this could speed it up massively. Obviously, as we saw in the video, particular parts may need to be tweaked and edited.
I really liked the use of Dreamspace in this module. I have previously taught Minecraft and the kids loved it. I will look more into Dream Space and the particular lessons that they have. The China video scared me in that it put the children under severe pressure and whilst I think the use of AI in schools can be brilliant, that showed maybe where it went way too far,
July 23, 2025 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #234937I never heard of immersive reader before and I had quite a number of children with dyslexia/reading difficulties last year that I will be recommending for their teacher next year!
I agree Donna. It’s frightening how long it took to make resources before and it now it is fairly instant! It will be great to encourage the children too.
I have experience of using AI for personal terms and for helping me to create questions and the odd learning tool to help my teaching. There is so much time saving to be had using AI effectively. I was always afraid of getting the children using AI because of the what ifs around AI. But from going through this module, there are so many benefits that outweigh the concerns! I love that you can tailor your lessons and learning based on the different children too. I feel it will really help children with learning disabilities and additional needs. Using AI for assessment will speed up marking and realistically, children are so used to screens that varying up assessment practices won’t through them either. I really like the Yippety Quiz, I’ve never seen that before. AI always provides the children with autonomy to take learning into their own hands. There are endless ways to use AI for teaching, learning and assessment and I look forward to learning more in later modules too.
