I like the way you have incorporated AI tools into a geography lesson and also that your students with be using technology and generative AI in a few ways. It is good thinking of you to engage them with with a research or organizations tool such as Microsoft search coach prior to documenting their findings/ideas on an AI supported tools. I can see how this would maximize their learning
As an educator, I believe that integrating AI into teaching is essential to preparing pupils for the digital future. AI tools offer the potential to personalise learning and engage all sorts of learners. I plan to introduce AI concepts through using AI-based educational games, basic coding with tools like Scratch, and discussions about how AI is used in everyday life (e.g., voice assistants or image recognition). I aim to promote digital literacy and ethical awareness by encouraging students to question how AI makes decisions and who creates these tools.I will use AI tools for quizzes also, the likes of ChatGPT or Twinkl’s Ari Assistant in particular. This allows for differentiated learning and assessment of understanding. For SEN pupils, AI applications like text-to-speech or adaptive learning software can support inclusion. I also see great value in professional development to stay current with trends and ethical considerations. By fostering curiosity and critical thinking about AI, I hope to prepare students not just to use technology but to understand and appreciate it.
The following is an example lesson plan;
Lesson-English, Retell and sequence a story (3/4thclass)
Children will have studied a well known story/fairytale
In groups they will rewrite the story in their own words
They will use an AI tool like Scratch or Gamma to create a visual animation to correspond to their story.
Children will be given the opportunity to present this work to others.I too felt that Scratch would be extremely employable and beneficial to use in the classroom. Using it for SEN activities and lessons is an approach I had not considered however I do see that it would be an engaging and possibly well suited platform to use with children who are more suited to a create learning environment. Although I dont teach a senior class, I am very interested in what you say about creating various texts and exploring them with students. I think this could make for really enjoyable and different lessons.
This module led me to consider the ways in which I would practically employ AI tools in the classroom. Many of the applications discussed could be used but I particularly like the sound of DashDot and Scratch.
I would introduce Scratch to my class through project work. Allowing children to work in small groups with ipads would enable them to share and build on their digital literacy skills. I would set the class with a very specific task such as creating a visual animation of a particular event or story. Modelling this process would be very important so as that the students can then make informed attempts at creating something they are proud to present to others. Childrens collaboration, organizational and many others skills would be target here. A possible progression from such a lesson, would be to allow students to use Scratch to create a digital story of their own using Scratch.
I too was really impressed with both Gamma and diffit. I think as a teacher I could put these to great use to improve my teaching and planning. Great suggestion by you that the likes of Gamma could be used by students!
This module was very eye opening and informative. Microsoft reading coach stood out to me as a tool that would be very useful in the classroom, particularly for SET or during team teaching initiatives. I like how Microsoft reading coach is really interactive and engaging for the student. Diffit also seems like a fantastic tool. I can certainly see how my teaching would be improved with the way in which it can support differentiation, provide resources etc.
There is huge potential for all the tools mentioned in this module to be used effectively in the classroom. I think a huge benefit to AI in the classroom is that it can be more engaging and varying for students. Teachers would also be able to work far more efficiently and productively with the assistance of AI tools to generate and organize ideas and resources.

Particularly the supports it would provide teachers with to manage assesment, progress and to structure teaching and learning. Certainly it is important to consider that teachers very well may face challenges when they begin on their journey of AI use in schools. That is why i think it would be very beneficial if schools were given specific training on AI use.
July 23, 2025 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #234851AI has many positive contributions to make to classroom life and the education system. One significant advantage of AI tools would be the ways in which they can support a teacher to target specific needs/strengths of a student or class. It appears that Century AI and Knewton are particularly effective for differentiation. Through this module I recognized how AI assists school life in the are of administration. The likes of Google forms is often used to gather and organized data. I think its important to acknowledge how AI tools are likely to be really engaging to younger generations that are living in a very technological world. Minecraft Education could be a really engaging and inclusive tool to use.
There certainly are challenges that one could face such as data privacy and ensuring the safety and privacy of the students is being considered. Teachers also need to be aware of biases that may exist within some algorithms and AI tools
I can relate to your comment here in that I too an quite unfamiliar with generative AI tools and I am interested in and looking forward to getting to explore with a few more platforms. I also agree with you on the fact that AI is mearly a support and that the teacher remains the most knowledgeable when it comes to their classroom their teaching and their students. As the technological world progresses it is important we engage the students through digital means.
The integration of AI tools into the primary classroom has the potential to transform teaching, learning, and assessment in many ways. After engaging with Module 1 it is clear that AI, such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini, offer exciting opportunities for both educators and students. These tools can support teachers in a variety of ways as it can aid in the lesson planning, assessment and create teaching supports such as images, poems, quizzes.
This module reiterated to me the importance of using AI critically and ethically. Educators must understand common misconceptions, such as the fear that AI will replace teachers or that it cannot be trusted. When used wisely, with good training, AI can support all aspects of classroom life and learning. An AI embracing school environment would allow for inclusive and engaging classroom climates.
