        Before teaching, the instructor uses AI tools to generate customized classroom resources. First, ChatGPT or Claude acts as an archivist to create a simplified, age-appropriate 1847 Gort Workhouse admission record with fictional yet historically accurate entries detailing names, ages, occupations, health statuses, and reasons for admission. Next, Diffit converts a standard article on potato blight into leveled reading passages complete with tailored vocabulary lists and comprehension questions. Finally, Adobe Firefly or Midjourney produces a historically accurate visual depicting an 1845 rural Irish family near a ruined potato crop to serve as an introductory hook.

        Lesson Progression and Activities
        The lesson opens with a ten-minute visual hook where pupils analyze the generated historical artwork on the interactive whiteboard, exploring clothing and living conditions before reading their differentiated passages about potato blight.           PART 1
          Honestly, the sheer volume of AI tools out there feels a bit overwhelming after this course—it’s hard to decide where to dive in first! My main goal right now is to harness AI to reclaim some time, using it to streamline my planning and keep my workload manageable.

          It’s getting tough to find an area of teaching that AI doesn’t touch, whether I’m tailoring resources, linking subjects, or rethinking assessment. I know managing devices like iPads will bring its own set of headaches, so my game plan is to start by using AI together as a whole class. That way, I can model what responsible use actually looks like. I’m really curious to hear what my students already know about these tools, too. Tapping into their own tech experiences will help us build a solid foundation together before they go off on their own. Personally, I can’t wait to play around with Magic School AI for my lesson prep and use Image Creator to bring a bit more visual spark to my lessons.

Generative AI can also help me draft tailored lesson plans, scaffold assignments for diverse needs, and deliver quick formative feedback. The primary benefit is improved engagement and equity—students receive targeted support without waiting for one-on-one time, while I save administrative hours to focus on direct mentorship. However, implementation comes with distinct challenges. Data privacy and ethical safety are immediate concerns when introducing digital tools. Additionally, mitigating academic dishonesty and preventing students from relying on AI as a shortcut—rather than a cognitive aid—will require clear boundaries, explicit digital literacy training, and a focus on critical thinking.

                Using it for maths is such a smart move. That hands-on element keeps kids grounded in real problem solving, while the instant, private feedback lets them learn from mistakes at their own pace without feeling put on the spot.

                  Design and construct a sturdy micro-habitat using natural materials.
                  Write 2–3 descriptive sentences using targeted adjectives.

                  Show pictures of woodlice and ladybirds.
                  Build Challenge In pairs. The pupils pack cardboard boxes or tin cans with natural items (twigs, moss, pinecones, bark) Pupils write a mini advertisement for their hotel Eg. My hotel is perfect for a ladybird because….. It has bark for hiding and moss to stay damp. Use an AI text tool before class to quickly draft differentiated sentence starters for varying literacy levels, and an image generator to create diagrams of insect habitats for visual learners.

                    congratulations on surviving your first year. you’re so right about screen time. Finding tech that encourages hands on play instead of passive scrolling is like finding gold in primary teaching. I love your low-key approach to introducing it.                       I recently tried this out with my 2nd class during a creative writing unit, and the response was really great. Instead of teaching AI as a standalone topic, we used an image-generator as a co-creator for our story settings.

                      We started on the interactive whiteboard, curating ideas. As we typed different descriptive words into the prompt the students saw in real time how choosing stronger adjectives completely changed the generated picture, This took some time amd a lot of tial and error. However they got a great buzz from the new images.

                      BRinging AI into the classroom naturally this boosted their descriptive writing. The children quickly figured out that if they wanted the AI to match their imagination, they had to be super fun with their vocabulary. It also opened up some brilliant, chats about AI too.

                        This is fantastic practice! Your reflection is very interesting.  I like the way it highlights a clear, practical understanding of how AI directly impacts classroom management, differentiation, and teacher workload.  The fact you also have 3 levels in your classroom would be manageable to create differeciated work.

                          The two examples i will be discussing is Gamma and Ai image generator. I really liked Gamma for the purpose of creating interactive, colourful and unique presentations, especially with using powerpoints for topics or even quuizzes after studying a topic, for example Orcas in the wild quiz. Halloween presentation. I also really liked Ai image creator for the purpose of creative and descriptive writing. How many stories this could be used for would be fantastic! the fact that the chidlren can also see each others work would be very encouraging!

                            I completely agree with you! The ability to instantly tailor reading passages to different cognitive levels and pair them with tools like Immersive Reader is a game changer. It really frees up valuable time that we can put directly back into supporting our students. Your emphasis on GDPR, data privacy was interesting. AI is only as good as. the input we give it, and it can never replace a teacher’s deep knowledge of their students’ individual needs. Proper teacher training is definitely going to be essential as we move forward.

                              Yes, I absolutely believe AI can transform the teaching and learning experience in my classroom. Even after completing Modules 1 and 2, I have already been generating so many practical ideas in my head for my students when we go back in September.  I plan to use tools such as Gemini to quickly design differentiated reading passages/ geerate scheudles and timetables, quiz questions that match varying student abilities. This allows me to adjust content without taking hours of planning time. Additionally, visual tools like Pictory will help me transform topic summaries into engaging multimedia openers to capture my students’ attention immediately, making it personal to the students also.

                                I really relate to what you shared about being time-poor as a teacher. Using ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilotplus discovering these myself has been a game-changer for my own lesson planning. It definitively frees up so much energy to actually focus on my students’ needs and wellbeing. I completely agree with your point on ethics, too that finding that balance between saving time and staying critical is everything right now. Well done!

                                  From reflectring on the video as well as my own teaching practice i feel i have gained so much insight into AI, compared to what i thought i know. AI has completely changed peoples lives daily. I  view ai as nearly an ‘assistant’ in my work and personal life that can helps me quickly  solve problems, structure plans and also adapt lessons for students who need an extra assistance.</p>
                                  With that, I am still remaining of the opinoin that creativity is still generated in the brain and that cannot be done online.  Ultimately, AI might help us as teachers write a lesson plans and ideas in seconds, but it cannot connect on an emotional level with a studentt. Teaching is so much more than lesson plans, its emphathy/ respect/ cooperation/ supporting, as well as allowing them how to think critically in a world full of answers.</p>
