I have created a Google Slides presentation about Hibernation. The Google Workspace tools are completely new to me and I have enjoyed exploring them. In this module there was a lot of information and demonstrations on how to create an interactive digital story on Google Slides. It was a good opportunity for me to explore Google Slides and I can see myself using it as a teaching and learning tool during the school year. Google slides is a great way to engage students and I will be encouraging students to create their own digital stories during the school year.
The use of Google Meets and Google Groups can allow for a lot of teacher collaboration and professional discussion and sharing of information, resources and planning documents. I think that the collaborative features in all the Google tools will save time and energy when colleagues are working together. I am looking forward to navigating the implementation of Google Classroom in my school this year for students and teachers.

Your digital story is a really good example of how facts and information can be presented in an interesting interactive way. All the important information is available in one space and it is easy for students to navigate.
Hi Dearbhla, I like the addition of a confidence question at the end of your quiz and the stars make it interesting for students. Using Google Forms for this quiz will engage the students and will give you quick access to the students results, a time saver for sure!
The paper ‘Formative assessment and self-regulated learning’ by Dylan William made very interesting reading and a starting point for reflecting on my current assessment processes. I am more reliant on AoL practices and would like to increase the AfL practices this year. I think that a balance between assessment styles is important. The seven strategies for Assessment for Learning proposed by Stiggins, Arter, Chappuis and Chappuis (2005) are very valid. In the paper, Williams highlights the importance of assessment in activating students as owners of their own learning, this is something I strive to do in my classroom.
Using Google Forms as a tool for assessment will be very helpful in my classroom this year for creating quizzes and exit tickets to assess learning, gather feedback and plan for future learning.
I created a quiz based around the class novel, Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. The quiz was created for 2nd class students. The video in this module was very helpful in demonstrating how to create the quiz. I created multiple choice questions to see how much the students knew about the novel. This quiz will help me to see how engaged the children were with the novel and the story. In future, an exit ticket about the novel would be useful to gather feedback about the learning and novel. I would add questions such as ‘Did you enjoy this story?’ ‘How difficult was the story to read?’. This style of exit ticket would give me a different insight into the students’ learning.

There was a clear video outlining the process of creating an exit ticket which I found very informative.
My exit ticket was centred on a lesson about Alexander Graham Bell. I was able to use Google Forms to create an exit ticket that asked what the students had learned and understood about Alexander Graham Bell and his invention. The exit ticket asked what helped them understand the facts presented about Alexander Graham Bell and how confident they felt about their learning. Finally, I added a question to help inform the next steps in learning, what invention would they like to research and learn about.
I was able to use Google Forms to make some of the questions multiple choice. I think this makes the exit ticket more accessible and less intimidating for younger students.
I can see how Google Forms can help schools gather feedback easily and quickly for the School Self-Evaluation process.

Thank you for sharing how you have used Google Forms in your school in a very practical and meaningful way. Google Forms provide a great way for schools to receive feedback from all members of the school community. I hope to use Google Forms for a parent survey this year, I think it is easier and less time consuming than printing, sending and following up the retrieval of a paper survey.
I like your idea of adjusting the Google Slides presentation to include narration. This would definitely make it more accessible for students with reading difficulties who may be unable to access longer texts and subject specific vocabulary or those who get intimidated by lots of text and become disengaged with lessons. Narration and sound effects would be very beneficial for younger learners too.
For my learning sequence in this module, I chose to focus on creative writing with 2nd class. My learning intention was to write a character profile for an imagined character. In future lessons this character can go on to star in a story or meet a character created by another student and write the conversation they would have.
One design choice I made was to create a pupil facing template using Google Docs. The pupil facing template included prompts for the student to fill in about their imagined character e.g. name, age, likes, dislikes. Students were also asked to draw their character as part of the creative process.
The task supports sequence by moving through the lesson in a clear order, starting with an introduction, showing a teacher made example, moving on to the main activity and then to the reflection.
An adjustment I would make to the learning sequence is to provide opportunity for peer feedback and reflection. I would give students a chance to share their character profile with another student and encourage editing based on peer feedback and reflection.
This learning sequence would support the SSE process as it uses digital technology and encourages student collaboration and communication.

I really like the way you have outlined making a brochure with your class using Google classroom to provide a basic template for your students. This is a great way to make learning accessible for all skill levels and students with different levels of ability. I think that students would really enjoy this task and be motivated by the familiar theme and the use of digital technology. I am also impressed that there is so much scope for integration through different subject areas. This is a great use of technology.
My school has recently purchased Chromebooks for student use and we plan to use google workspace in the coming school year. Using technology is always appealing to students in my class and they work very enthusiastically using digital technology. I am hopeful that the knowledge and skills in this online summer course will provide me with the tools to use the chromebooks effectively in my classroom this year.
The School Self Evaluation Guidelines and Framework provide the perfect pathway to improving digital learning in school following the investment in technology. The guidelines were clearly outlined in module one and I look forward to working with my teaching colleagues, leadership, students and parent body to reflect on current practise and identify a focus for the SSE process.
There are so many resources in the Google for Education’s Teacher Centre. I am particularly interested in learning how to assign work and collect assessments using google classroom. It would be fantastic to create an open-ended assignment, share it with students using google classroom and collect the assignments as they are completed. I can really see how this would save time, reduce photocopying and preparation time while providing a rich learning assignment for my students.
