Chosen Digital Learning Framework:
The Digital Learning Framework (DLF), which supports effective integration of technology into teaching and learning. One strength in your current practice:
I actively encourage the use of digital technology in the classroom by incorporating interactive tools like coding platforms and educational apps that engage students and enhance their learning experiences. One area you would like to develop:
I would like to improve my ability to integrate digital technology seamlessly across multiple subjects, balancing the demands of teaching a broad primary curriculum while making technology use meaningful and manageable.Challenges:
It is often difficult to fully utilize digital technology given the wide range of subjects required in primary schools. Time constraints and curriculum demands can limit opportunities for in-depth technology integration, making it a challenge to cover all areas while ensuring quality digital learning. Two or three specific, measurable actions:
Plan and deliver interdisciplinary lessons that integrate digital technology with at least two subject areas each term to maximize time and relevance.
Set aside dedicated weekly time slots for digital activities to build consistency and routine in technology use.
Participate in professional learning communities or workshops focused on efficient digital integration strategies to better manage curriculum demands.
Through these actions, I aim to foster a classroom environment where digital technology supports learning across subjects, empowering students with essential 21st-century skills despite the challenges of a busy curriculumJuly 29, 2026 at 2:01 pm in reply to: Module 2 – Introduction to Coding with MakeCode Micro:bit #266624Hi Clodagh
I think this is a great MakeCode project as it incorporates children’s daily life use of
Rock paper scissors and using this idea to code would really excite the children’s interestThe on off shake is very interactive and shows children how computers can make decisions. This projects supports early coders and all children would be able to assess this regardless of their ability.
I will definitely use this idea in my class
Thanks

I used the animate animal programme as my class have lots of different pets and I think this would spark interest in my class. I chose Animating a moving dog on Micro bitThe code displays a pixel of a dog and allow the participant to use the different cycles provided pauses, led, loops, music and different movements which the participant can choose. I found this tricky but could see how the children in my class would love this. As you can see from my poor attempt, I was only able to get the dog to move his head and wag his tail.

This project can be integrated into STEM learning by combining coding with creative design and science. Pupils could research different animal movements and design corresponding animation frame images. This is hands on activity and encourages children to problem solve, be creative and understand how technology can work in the real world.
