I think you are right Vicky, we will all have to make ourselves more familiar with our school’s GDPR and AUP. It should be feedback from summer courses that highlight  to management the need for these policies  to reflect the advances in relation to AI and teaching and learning.

        Great idea Pat.

I think as teachers become more familiar and comfortable with AI tools it will become second nature to us to use it on the fly, which will help children pick it up naturally.

We have seen some great examples of short snappy things that you could do with children e.g. image creator. Pupils would love that. Like you said any tool that will reinforce learning and which they find engaging is a winner to us!

          Subject :Geography

          Lesson : Flags of Europe

Lesson :  Elicit countries in Europe from children and any existing information relating to  Europe.

          Lesson Objective:
“By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize and name at least 6 European country flags and match each flag to its correct country on a map.”

          Show presentation made with Gamma

          https://gamma.app/docs/Flags-of-Europe-for-Kids-28uwt48yzm43i9u

Play some games on interactive whiteboard created by Gamma- matching, spot the difference etc.

Then use a quiz create on copilot & imported into Quizizz. Pupils can then take turn to complete quiz on tablet  as assessment of learning.

I can really see how AI concepts and tools are going to help teaching and learning in my classroom going forward. It amazes me the speed at which presentations/ quizzes etc can be created to suit my classes personal needs- I’ve learnt that its far faster that trying to find a premade powerpoint even! My children are very lucky now as they will have a teacher supercharged by AI. This course is the best I have done in a long time- it will really change the way I teach and the speed of preparation is doable now.

The amount of times I’ve typed up my own problems with the children’s names! AI is a time saving tool without question. All we need now is time to spend exploring these tools. Love the facility too that we can differentiate these problems for the different groups in our class.

Like Inez said set up your account, explore and we will be ready for September.

I have explored Khan academy kids and found it to host an array of useful things that I could use with a class.

We are all well aware of wellbeing being a big part of our current curriculum. With everything going on, including advances in technology it is so needed. We have found children’s wellbeing being greatly affected by current trends and we need to help provide them with the skills necessary to navigate through life.

I see lessons on helping children cope with big emotion- to be able to communicate and name feelings, which is such a valuable life lesson. This social and emotional development is vital today.

There is a section to support teacher in their back to school section, juggling with big emotions etc. As  a school where I work, we are facing big changes in September so this section is going to provide support and ideas hopefully.

In general I think Khan academy kids is a great place to introduce AI applications to children as its interactive activities are so appealing to children. It also links nicely with things/ games that the children are used to playing. Therefore they will be able to link known information to the world of AI. Once they are aware of AI and its uses you can then go teaching challenges surrounding AI etc.

Wow! what a wealth of information that was in this module. The potential of all these tools and how they could really help in the education setting is amazing.
The tools that I really really liked were Diffit. Differentiation is more important in this day and age. . It will really help address time constraints for teachers in this regard. The scope for the EAL children was outstanding.
The powerpoints and presentation on Gamma were brilliant too. Gamma is something I will be using going forward.
Twee is an excellent find too! Fantastic for testing comprehension of work covered. Thank you so much for these excellent resources.

The impact of such AI tools will have an unimaginable effect of schools today. It is so exciting as a teacher to see such tools, which will help transform school for the children who sit before us.

I used google forms  this year to create Bi Cinealta surveys for pupils/ parents.  Very easy to make and roll out. You  are able to print out very readable feedback at end.

I could see how this could be used for assessment very easily. The children would be far more engaged and less time for teacher and still information needed received.

I agree the video from China slightly scared me. This is when technology can go too far- counting the yawns of a child? Please no!

I have learnt a lot in this module and can say without doubt my teaching could be improved by the use of AI. I think of this years class – a very mixed ability class. Immersive reader would have been an amazing resource for them. This is the type of knowledge that could change a child’s future.  The challenge  would be in having the time to teach children how to use it accurately. Through showing on the interactive whiteboard, for whole class instruction and maybe targeted work by SET, it is something a child could master themself.  Children with assistive technology- this is something that could go on their School Support Plan as a target.

I think of Minecraft Education and how much the children would be drawn in by such an activity. I think we are all aware of the challenges we face as teacher- doing boring schoolwork! It is up to us to use whats available to our advantage. My popularity would rocket if I started using Minecraft! Courses like this that draw teachers in, ignite a spark are a fantastic starting point for continual Professional development.

The Rule of Thumb slide for using AI reinforces the need for education for teachers and pupils alike. With Digital Learning Plans being so topical at the moment, it would be easy to add a paragraph on the use on AI.

Already my negative attitude towards AI and “cheating” is changing thanks to module 1. As someone above said if we can use our time better and it will lead to improved outcomes in the children’s learning it is a winning solution for everyone in education.

Despite being “afraid ” of changes in education, it is time for me to fully embrace AI and the benefits to both my teaching and my life!

Already from this course I can see the many positive benefits it will have on my teaching, but more importantly on the children’s learning.  They live in a world based on screens and fast moving, readily available information. We, as teachers need to be able to provide them with this at school. AI is our way to do this. I have become so reliant on googling everything, this is the next step up. Its potential amazes me. The speed at which teachers can get information and deliver it in a way children will find engaging is amazing.

The time that we shall save googling, copying and pasting etc will be fantastic. To see the dinner party with recipes linked highlights the full package that AI can provide

To look at the quiz apps such as Yippity unlocks a new assessment type for me- and it is so easy to use. My teaching will change greatly in September!
