This is fantastic! I love the idea of explaining the difference between aeroplanes and rockets – especially because going through the atmosphere is the hard part for rockets because of atmospheric friction and escaping gravity! in space they mostly just have to maintain momentum.

It could be cool to get them to act out landing their rockets and describing what they would see on their prospective landing sites. This video could provide some inspiration.

This is fantastic! looking at the CO2 here in particular would be cool as the same thing that is causing the fizzing is such a small (but ever increasing) part of the atmosphere here on Earth while other planets like Venus have atmospheres that are almost entirely carbon dioxide.

This sounds fab, It might be useful to make different sorts of rockets to compare, mechanical- elastic or using a bicycle pump, or chemical – vinegar and baking soda.

This is fantastic, in particular the dress up and presentation aspect is cool! Google earth pro is absolutely your friend here. For the traveling to planets aspect looking beyond our solar system might be interesting too! see here for a virtual tool to discuss this!

This is really well laid out! what would be a nice addition to the planning aspect is getting them to think of their planning drawings as if they were diagrams – have print outs of labels that they can stick to their drawings.

This is fab! It might be cool to compare different kinds of rockets such as ones launched using elastic bands of chemical reaction rockets such as vinegar and baking soda ones!
Hi Emma this sounds fab! it sounds like it would be useful to use google earth pro here as not only will it show Earth in space it also has a mars and moon option! potentially open space aswell!
Hi Mairead This sounds fab! It could be interesting to try and get them to imagine their drawings as diagrams through getting them to label things and perhaps draw out the experiment in parts kind of like a comic strip!

This is brilliant! I am glad you found the course useful! I definitely recommend stellarium and open space for looking at the planets, and in terms of habitats this might be of interest to you!
