Hi Eoghan,
I think solving real life problems is very topical especially with the new maths curriculum. I like your lesson idea and it is something I feel I could use in my class.

I think it might be more suited to the senior classes and it would be beneficial to them as a lot of our local secondary schools are using laptops.
I too really like the idea of having a template in google docs that the children can then access once I share it with them in their google classroom. Some children can find it difficult to decide what to include/how to lay out a project.

Google Workplace tools help teachers share lessons, give feedback, and keep students organized. They make group work and class discussions easier. These tools save time and help students stay focused in class. It also lets students learn from home. Teachers can give assignments and share videos. This helps learning continue even when students are not in school.
Over the past few years, I’ve seen how digital tools can make learning more flexible and engaging. Students have enjoyed having to option to complete projects digitally on docs or slides. I like the idea of using google classroom to improve the home school link. I would be nice for parents to see some of the activities completed by the kids. Using google forms as a tool for assessment is also something I will use more.
This is a great idea, I usually get the class to complete the ‘How I feel about school’ document at the beginning of the school year. Using google forms to do this would be a handy way to collate the answers. Thanks!
I have created a questionnaire to be used at the beginning of the school year to establish how children in a class feel about reading and writing. It is important to get children’s voice and using google forms is an easy way to do this.

I think it is very beneficial to see a self assessment from the children at the beginning of the year. It is also nice to redo this assessment at the end of the year to compare their thoughts.
I like the idea of the exit ticket system and it is something I see myself using in the coming year. It is an easy way to see who understands and those who may need a little extra support.
Having looked at ‘Redesigning Education: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century‘ (Hallissy, Butler, Marshall, Hurley, 2013) I decided to pick the skill of Collaboration . The learning opportunities are documented in the link below.

I think the skill of collaboration is extremely important especially in the younger classes as it sets out how they learn and work with other pupils in the class. It is a skill that needs to be explicitly taught. I like the idea of giving roles to children when they work in groups eg timekeeper, recorder, leader, presenter.

Google classroom wasn’t something I was familiar with before this module. I like how simple it is to assign work to the class and the grade function is very useful for a record of assessment.
Google sites is a lovely way to create an Eportfolio. It would be lovely to add a few pieces of work each year and by 6th it creates a nice memory of their time in primary school. However our students do not currently have school emails and I assume each child needs their own?
Google sheets is very handy for recording assessments. We use it for team teaching and it is handy that it can be shared and edited by all teachers involved.
While exploring the teaching resources area of Google for Education’s Teacher Centre, I found out about the google education programme, Be internet awesome. Which is designed to help teach kids the skills they need to be safe and smart online.

There is a downloadable teacher resource book which has lesson plans and activities. The children then put what they have learnt into action through the Be Internet Awesome World on Roblox.
There is also a downloadable family guide which would help support parents at home and link school and home on the topic. Both Roblox and computer games are extremely popular with the kids in my school so I know this would be of great interest to them.
As part of our School Self Evaluation we are looking at digital learning, updating our digital learning plan , improving digital safety knowledge and a link to wellbeing. I think this resource would tie in nicely to celebrating safer internet day.
