Hi, I am glad I came across this comment because I was not aware how Scratch could contribuite in my ASD classroom. I have students that struggle with literacy and with this tool there is no need to read or write traditional code, which is a big advantage! It is highly visual as well and that is a strong point to take into consideration because it will support the visual learners. I also can use it to create social stories which are vital to introduce changes or something unknown in their routine. I am looking forward to trying this AI tool in my class!
July 7, 2025 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #229916I have never tried Inmersive Reader in my class but seems to be a powerful tool that I could use to help my students read and understand the texts better. I look forward to using it and see if they benefit from it.
I love the idea of using their names as a way to engage him in the task and make it a real problem to solved. I was not that into Gamma but it could be a helpful tool in order to create interactive presentations, worth trying it in my class.
I absolutely love that lesson, Very clear and interesting for introducing JI the AI world.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>As a teacher in an ASD class, I am continually looking for tools that help me adapt learning to meet the diverse needs of my students. This course has shown me how AI can play a vital roles in the learning process as well as a supportive and inclusive role in my teaching practise. I definitely plan to use some tools explained in the course such as Diffit to simplify and differenciate texts at various reading levels and Chat GTP for social stories that prepares the students for change in the routine or unfamiliar situations.</p>
<p style=”text-align: left;”>DALL-E would be another useful tool in my classroom to generate images based on prompts to support communication and comprehension, especially for non- verbal or highly visual learners.I believe that Magic schooul would help me adapting content, allowing me to spend more time with my students.</p>
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I would like to highlight that I do not see AI as a replacement for human connection but it would complement. It is an amazing tool to make learning more accesible and inclusive and I am excied to keep exploring how AI can enhance both the learning and the wellbeing of the students.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Part 2Lesson plan</p>
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Subjetc: Science</p>
Topic: Animal Kingdom and their habitats.Class age: 6-9 years old, adapted for an ASD class in a Special School.
Learning objectives:
Ideally by the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1.Identify at least 3 different animals habitats ( for example: jugle, ocean, dessert).
2.Match animals with their correct habitats.
3. Use visual and AI-supported to explore and describe animals.
4. Engage in a sensory and a rich- learning environment.
The AI tools that I would use are:
-Chat GTP for the social stories o scripts to support understanding of the lesson.
-DALL-e to generate images of animals in their habitats ( previous prompts provided such as ” A colourful parrot flying over a green rainforest”).
– Youtube with Magic School or Copilot to summarise a short animal documentary in simple terms.
<p style=”text-align: center;”>LESSON:</p>
Warm up:Set the scene ( aprox 10-15 mins)– Read a calming story previously created with ChatGtp, title ” Today we are learning about animals”.
-Watch a short animals habitat video ( Youtube) we could use Magic School to summarise it.
– Ask the students: Where do animals live? What do they need?
Main activity: aprox 30 min
I will create images with DALL-E. Use time: During the introduction of each habitat and matching activity.
– Displayed the images created with DALL-E on the board or printed visuals.
– Introduce one habitat at a time. Show prompt image and ask guiding questions ( e.g What can you see?, What animals is it?, Do you think is cold or hot there?
Matching activity where students match pictures of animals cards ( DALL-E) to printed habitats postersin either a Velcro or magnetic board. I would use tactile or sensory animals to support engagement.
Finisher: Reflection
Ask simple questions such as: Where do camels live? Which animal was your favourite?
Assesment:
-Teacher observation
-Matching activity complation.
– Verbal and visual responses during plenary.

For my ASD class, I wouldl like to introduce NotebookLM as a support tool for structured learning and information processing. Children on the autism spectrum often benefits from clear routines, visual timetables and organisation and scaffolding tasks. With this tool, I can upload personalised reading materials (e.g. simplified science texts), and the tool would generate summaries, questions, and explanations tailored to the content. This provides a predictable and focused way to explore new concepts without the cognitive overload of tradition comprehension activities.
To implement it, I would begin with a guided session using a familiar topic, modelling how the tool can summarise and answer questions. Pupils could use it in pairs promoting social and academic interaction.
I truly believe AI can empower students with diverse needs. It supports differenciation and offers a calm, consistent interface that suits many ASD´s pupils preferences.
Part 1:What a module! I believe Magic School AI can generate social stories for my students as well as visual timetables and emotion regulation resources. These toold are incredibly useful and helpful to support routine, transitions and self- regulation in my ASD classroom.
Part 2:
AI tools have significant potential to support learners with autism by offering personalised, structured, and visually supported content. In my classroom, pupuls benefit from consistency, visual aids and scaffolded instruction. Therefore, Magic School AI or Chat Gtp can help generate quickly and accurate resources. These tools are definitely a life changer for a teacher when it comes to planning, creating resources, making lesson plans reducing significantly the workload and supporting students needs.
I believe AI can also enhance assesment by offering alternative formats like visual quizzes or simplified comprehension checks. Additionally, using AI to track learning progress can help idenfity patterns in behaviour.
When used thoughtfully, AI tools can empower autistic students by promoting independence, reducing anxiety and allowing individual expression.
July 5, 2025 at 8:21 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #229025One specific challenge I usually face in my classroom as a Special Education Teacher working in ASD class is ensuring that each student is being provided with an individualized support that matches their communication and processing needs. Many of my students rely heaviliy on visual schedules, symbols, and structured routines based on the TEACCH approach. Adapting materiales and instructions for each student can be time consuming and requires a deep understanding of their preferences and learning styles.
AI can significantly enhace the teaching and the learning experience in this context. For example, AI powered tools can generate personalised visual supports, such as costumized pictures or schedule or communication boards, in a matter of seconds. Imagine recognition software could help create real life photo cues tailored to each student´s environment, boosting their learning proccess. However, challenges remains due to lack of flexibility to fully adapt to unique needs and also privacy concers must be carefully managed when using data – based systems.
I agree with you. I used to see AI as ChatGtp and now I am after realising that it goes beyond that and it is an incredible world to find out.
Before learning about AI tools in Education, I did not realize how useful and educational they could be in my Autism class. As a Special Needs Teacher, I always try to find ways to help my students learn better and feel more comfortable in the environment. After exploring AI, now I see many ways it can support teaching, learning and assessment. For instance, using AI to create visual supports or personalized stories can really help my students to understand things more clearly. Some toold can also turn speech into text,or give instant feedback, which help pupils who have difficulty in writting or focusing.AI also can help me track progress and adapt my teaching base on each student´s needs. I now understand that AI can make learning more flexible and engaging, especially for children with autism. It is not about replacing the teacher, but about adding tools that make learning more accesible and meaningful for every child.
