Athlone Sanctuary Runners is a running group which brings together asylum seekers, refugees, migrants, and local residents. They are united by the values such as solidarity, friendship and respect. The group has been a roaring success and a great way for people to integrate into their community. As a school, we could make the parents aware of the supports that are available in the local community for example the athlone sanctuary runners. We could also hold an International Day in the school where we celebrate different cultures through food, song dance, presentations and invite parents to the school. It would provide an opportunity for parents to meet and intergrate further into the community.
