This module facilitates a practical and concrete approach to the study of the Renaissance period. Students will have an opportunity to examine vibrant examples of the Art, Architecture and Learning. This includes 'virtual' trips to some of the most famous museums and galleries of the world. Worksheets will enable teachers and students to thoroughly interrogate the sources, which they have located. An outline framework of questions will support an acquisition of appropriate analytical skills. Students will normally complete this topic at the end of the First Year in the secondary school. It is designed for use by mixed ability classes.

This module relates to the Renaissance topic in the Junior Certificate syllabus. The Guidelines recommend that the study should be based on an examination of visual sources and on biography. This module utilises a range of sources, both textual and visual, which come from various repositories, facilitated by the medium of the World Wide Web.
