Hi Megan, I really like your idea of having a blog to keep the parents updated on what’s going on in the classroom. I think this is a great idea for keeping in contact with parents whilst also allowing them to see what their children are getting up to on a weekly/monthly basis. The collaboration aspect on Sway would accommodate sharing and editing of posts for resources for teachers which is also a fantastic idea. This way resources can be grouped by subjects and topics which would give ease of access to teachers in finding resources.
Hi Megan, I really like your OneNote presentation and how you have presented it. This would really be a beneficial app for students to use when working in groups and presenting. It’s also great for starting and editing presentations so that when it is started in class, the children can continue on with their work at home and in school. The ‘KWL’ chart is a great idea for OneNote as editing is enabled and the children can then present their KWL charts also.
August 16, 2023 at 7:47 pm in reply to: Module 2 – Office 365 Tools to help support Collaboration #206352Hi Catherine, I totally agree that Microsoft Teams app would be extremely useful in the senior classrooms for ‘project’ type assignments. I do also agree and think that I will be moving to Teams for video conferencing instead of Zoom due to its accessibility and efficiency. I also agree that this would be a great benefit for having all apps and resources in the same place rather than having lots of different apps holding them.
Hi Conor, I totally agree with you that forms is an excellent tools that can be used in many ways, especially to engage the children’s learning in the classroom. It is an incentive that allows the children to view learning from a different perspective. Sway is a great tool for creative projects as it allows for collaboration on projects and the development of many presenting, co-operation and communicating skills. Like you have mentioned, it is a great substitute for providing lots of resources in lessons. By having iPads or computers the children just need the one resource to complete the activity.
August 16, 2023 at 7:05 pm in reply to: Module 4 – Digital Learning and School Self Evaluation #206330By constantly using digital technology in my classroom, I become accustomed to using various digital tools whilst also allowing the children to become familiar with them from watching me. I can also implement the regular use of digital technology in my class for the children which would allow them to become familiar with using various tools and apps.By allowing the children to have regular experiences with digital technology, they are becoming accustomed to using the technology and can use it to express ideas, presentations, school/homework, projects, etc. The become familiar with using apps and tools search for information and gather it for these projects. By using a range of different tools, designs, fonts, etc, the children will view this as an incentive to stay attentive in lessons and in turn will want to know how to do it in their own work, therefore, developing their digital skills. Ensuring that the latest updates of apps on my computer would enhance the learning in my classroom by exposing the children to new and updates features available on apps. As a teacher, there are many different uses for technology in the classroom such as resources, communication with parents and colleagues, videos, pictures, interactive activities, assessment etc. I can implement the use of digital technologies into my teaching, planning and preparationI can make myself more aware of the effects and advantages to SSE by expanding my knowledge and sharing it with my colleagues. By reflecting on my use of digital technology and how I use it, I can think about whether I could use it in a more meaningful way or even if there was any aspect of technology I could improve on. Referring back to the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines, I can ensure that my teaching and assessment procedures adhere to the guidelines and are efficient in my teaching and assessment. By developing my own use of digital technology, I would be able to assist other teachers and students who may encounter problems in their own usage. I can also give tips and trick for resources, using different apps and perhaps give suggestions to newer and more efficient apps which could be used in place of some of the apps that are currently being used.</p>

Collaboration is a key skill that I believe all children should experience when learning. Working with others is part of life, and the ability to work in harmony and equally alongside one another is extremely important. By facilitating the class, I could use collaboration in group projects to allow the children the opportunity to work together and foster a sense of communication, co-operation and sharing of ideas.
From engaging with the above document, I believe we have made a start in implementing these skills in our classroom’s, however, I do believe that we have a long way to go yet to succeed in reaching the truest potential of children using these 21st century skills. However, I believe that as educators, it is our duty to enforce and implement these ideas and activities that develop these skills to allow the children the opportunity to become critical thinkers.
There are many different apps available to students when collaborating on different projects, especially OneNote. This is an app that I have just recently discovered and although it may take a little while to get used to using and become familiar with, I feel as though it could be very efficient and accessible for students when collaborating with one another. This is mainly because of the edit feature, this feature allows people with the link to the document, edit the document as they work together. This allows each member to contribute and avoids any members not ‘being a team player’ by assisting and all working equally together.

OneNote is a great tool that can be used by teachers and students both in school and at home. By storing documents and Notes on OneNote, they are very easily accessed which can be very efficient for organisation purposes.
Collaboration can be introduced when using OneNote from a digital perspective both in the classroom and at home by allowing children to work together on creating their own chapters for group projects etc.
I believe this app could have the potential to be a central part to storing files in a school as it can allow ease of access for teaches when sharing and storing files, pdf’s, school policies, lesson plans etc. I had not been familiar with OneNote before the beginning of this course, but now that I am aware of it, I will be informing my colleagues and friends of just how useful and accessible it can be from a teacher’s perspective.

August 9, 2023 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Module 2 – Office 365 Tools to help support Collaboration #203865From my experience using Microsoft Teams, it is quite easy to navigate and very use friendly (I have always used PowerPoint and Word for lessons and lesson plans etc). I have previously used it in the classroom by showing children how to access files and documents etc. which in turn the children had no problem in navigating by themselves. (senior end of school)
As a school, I feel it is efficient in sharing school documents, such as policies and notes etc. It is a very accessible area to allow teachers communicate with one another. By having a space where many files can be stores, it shows ease of access for teachers and staff to access all files in the one area.
It also seems to be a very efficient way of communicating with parents and allow the parents to see the children’s work along with the teacher’s responses. The feedback option is also fantastic as it allows for individual feedback and guidance for the children.
In terms of challenges, I feel that the whole school would need to be on board with using it and become familiar with the different apps available, which might not always be efficient. I also feel as though perhaps the junior end of the school may struggle with using this facility in school unless they were being supported throughout the entire lesson.
Here is a link to a quiz, created based on a short story read to the children – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXrfgVNzRdl1oMWFw-d1aZTHS1vhifh7pR4UPs5QinINEcCQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
Sway
I believe Sway is a fantastic tool that allows both teachers and students to develop not only their digital skills, but also their expressive and presenting skills when preparing work and presenting it to an audience. It is also a brilliant tool that can encourages co-operation and sharing of ideas when working together. Sway also allows the child to put their own ideas into their work by using visuals, voice recordings, editing tools and many more features.
Forms
Forms is a tool I have really enjoyed using as I feel I would benefit greatly from using this as an assessment tool in the classroom, both for AFL and AoL. I also feel as though it is really efficient in creating small quizzes for the class based on any topic covered in the classroom. There are many different ways of asking questions and giving ideas along with providing the multiple opportunities for supporting children’s learning.
