August 19, 2022 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Module 2 – Office 365 Tools to help support Collaboration #189721
I am not very familiar with Microsoft Teams but after seeing what it can offer with this module I can see why so many school use it and love it.
During school closures/restrictions my school as a whole used see saw and got on fine with it. I can see how Microsoft teams can be better in one way and not in another. It is very techy based so the child and or parent would have to have a good understanding of basic laptop/computer skills. I had second class for the duration of covid closures so I do think that see saw worked best for them and their parents.
But in saying that I can see why schools who maybe have 2 or more of the same class would really benefit from using it. It can be a good platform for many teachers who teach the same class to keep on track and use ideas/activities from their colleagues. It would be an excellent way to collaborate and allow give and take with if all parties are comfortable with it-

Post a reflective piece (150 words minimum) as a reply to this post.</span>
I am a primary school teacher, and in relation to this module there are some excellent tools available to enhance the school self evaluation process. In my school we have started to engage with Microsoft 365 a little but not realising its potential as a whole if I am honest. This module has really opened my eyes to its potential in many different ways.
These tools are very imaginative and exciting. As and avid user of PowerPoint, Sway is an enhanced version that can be very handy in creating a work bank and lesson plan bank.
Forms is an excellent way to keep all staff members on the same page and can be very useful within an SSE process. Teachers can fill in combined forms and use it has a working document.
Write a reflective piece (150 words minimum) as a reply to this post on how you are going to focus on developing the particular skill in your classroom.
The skill I have chosen to focus on is the skill of communication. This is a such a broad term and I feel it is vitally important to develop throughout childhood especially in school.
The ability to have good communication skills is vital to being a present person in reality. You can break down communication into so many different sections. You can have verbal communication, the main one where two or more people are speaking to each other passing words to and fro hoping to engage in conversation. All participants must be showing good communication skills i.e. looking at each other, listening to what the other has to say, making eye contact, reacting to what the other is saying and responding in the correct manor. Practicing this in the classroom is so important, to model good communication as well as giving the children time to practice this skill because school could be the only opportunity they have to.
Children then can move on to non verbal communication. Hand gestures and signals, body language and eye/facial expressions can be practiced through games and drama time.
These are skills that will stick with the child for life and they need to be practiced and nurtured.

August 16, 2022 at 10:30 pm in reply to: Module 4 – Digital Learning and School Self Evaluation #133463Consider how you can use Digital Technology in your classroom to enhance students learning?
You can use Digital Technology in the classroom using a variety of ways to enhance students learning. Digital Technology is such a broad term therefore can be adapted to each classroom/student/teacher/school.
With planning and creativity, Digital Technology can be used to create meaningful learning experiences which will serve both students and teachers well. Technology has a role to play as a powerful teaching tool. Flip the classroom and let your students be the teachers.
How can you now apply School Self Evaluation Guidelines to your teaching? What impact can developing your own use of Digital Technology have at school level?
You can base the whole SSE model on your Digital Technologies within the school. You can focus your attention using the model to base the evaluations on your use as a teacher using Digital Technology to teach. It could be based on how well it provides as a scaffold to children while teaching and learning is taking place or you can base it on how children use Digital Technology for assessment and how effective a tool it can be for classroom based assessment, peer assessment or self assessment.
These avenues can all be focused on within the SSE framework and therefore renewed and refreshed in a positive direction

Both OneNote and OneNote learning tools are avenues to scaffold, strengthen and enlarge deeper learning opportunities for students in a variety of ways.
Firstly, it has excellent language possibilities for all pupils. The immersive reader is a very useful tool and be used to differentiate work effectively and easily within the classroom. For any poem, story, paragraph use it in the classroom during differentiated group work/co teaching/ literacy groups. A vast range of ability could be looked after using the immersive reader. This could be in the form of translation for the pupils with EAL, individual reading for pupils with additional learning needs, it can be used for identifying verbs and nouns for some pupils, and maybe identifying adverbs and adjectives for more able pupils.
Secondly, OneNote if administered correctly from a planning perspective can make teaching and learning lessons affluent and therefore administer better learner outcomes within the classroom. On top of that, it is a wonderful tool for collaboration and could be utilised to enhance the planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation of coteaching lessons.
