Similar to April, the use of AI to support planning is a really big plus for me. At the end of a challenging day of teaching I find it can be such a hard and laborious task. It can sometimes take my brain much longer to do a simple task due to level of need I have had to manage throughout the school day.
Using AI to help with lesson planning, generating content and other supports can be an invaluable tool. I also love how precise it can be depending on the quality of your prompt. I would find it so much easier to edit a plan I generated from AI to suit my class than to start from scratch myself. This, like April, would then give me more time to create interesting resources. again with AI tools such as Magic Schools AI, Gamma or Twee. I would also look to AI for support with streamlining assessment.
There is so many opportunities to use such a wide variety of tools to enhance teaching and learning and I am excited to use these tools in the coming school year.
I have experienced the same challenge as Don in that creating resources and differentiating to reach the entire class can be hard. I never feel like I have reached all of the students in the correct way. I teach to the middle of the class and spend much more time trying to reach the children who are struggling than the ones who are excelling. I always feel like I am letting them down as I know they have potential that I am unable to tap into because of time constraints.
Using Diffit will help me to reach these higher-level students by generating extension activities for whatever subject or topic we are covering. It will also help me to streamline the content for all levels in an appropriate and time conscious way helping me to reach, engage and teach all levels within my class and help lessen the guilt that I am not reaching the entire class.
Part 2
I reflected in Part 1 of this forum in relation to how I would use CoPilot Image Creator and Magic Schools AI so I will look to the other AI tools here in Part 2.
Looking at the other AI tools outlined in module 3 I really want to explore the Gamma AI tool. I am very creative and I like creating interesting stimulus for learning. Using Gamma looks like a really time effective way to achieve that goal.
The Reading Coach in Microsoft Learning Accelerators also has the ability to impact literacy levels in the classroom. For me, the personalisation of this AI tool would be of huge value to my class who have such a wide variety of reading abilities. Due to the high level of needs within the class it was impossible to listen to the children read every day last year and so I like the independence this AI tool allows the students and for a mere ten minutes a day, the impact it could have is far reaching. Personalising the feedback to each student and helping them with tricky words whatever their ability is, providing targeted support to their individual needs is an incredible tool to add to any classroom.
Twee also looks really interesting. I like how you can pick a topic thereby making it relevant to the classes interests which in turn increases engagement and motivation. I love how as well as generating texts, it can also generate cloze procedures, writing prompts and open and closed questions. This looks quite easy to use and again will be a time saver in the classroom while improving the quality of the teaching and learning.
Part 1
The information in Module three while really helpful can be quite overwhelming as it feels like there is so much to choose from.
I will definitely be using the Co-Pilot Image Creator to aid the use of descriptive writing as per the example given in this module. I taught the class I have in September for three months last year and that is really helpful as I know the children really well and so can plan in advance for the coming year. This class are very reluctant writers and I know by using this AI tool, the same way as the moderator, is definitely going to engage the kids, inspire and motivate them to write and with guidance and encouragement it will improve their writing skills. I’m excited to use this with them.
Another AI tool that I can use immediately for my class is Magic School AI. There are quite a lot of needs in my class and so the social story generator will be of huge help in my classroom. I have always found it hard to get social stories right and was often not 100% satisfied with my output. At the end of a challenging day it felt impossible to find the energy to make it right. However, with this tool, I can generate very personalised social stories tailored to specific children. I have seen first-hand the effect these social stories can have and so it is great to have found a tool that can help me with this.
August 3, 2025 at 3:13 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #237458AI can certainly transform the teaching and learning in my classroom.
Personalising the learning to meet the unique needs of each student is very exciting as that can be a laborious task with the level of need presenting in my class. To have proper supports, plans and content recommended according to need will be an invaluable resource. I also think it is really exciting that you receive real time results and feedback in terms of any assessment and recommendations for learning so we are meeting students where they are at. I like that the students can be masters of their own learning here as feedback can be shared with them too. Learning gaps can be picked up and so that in itself will inform planning and contribute positively to the spiral nature of the curriculum.
Example: I have a child in my class who is a gifted student. There is such a cross section of learning need across my class that I don’t spend sufficient time challenging him.
Benefits: It will help me create content for him that is in line with what I am teaching but at a level higher to the others.
Challenges: The learning has to suit the child so it isn’t a case of providing the content and letting him to it. He must still be part of the learning and be included in the overall classroom learning.
The challenge of AI is not the tool itself but using it appropriately. Getting the prompt correct and using the best AI application for the job in hand is also an important consideration.
Hi Áine
I like how you wrote about how you would use AI with your students. This module touched on that but thanks for the posting suggestions of ways to use in class. I am teaching second class this year, having normally been with infants, and I think these tools will be really great to help with independent learning and project work.
I enjoyed how you focused on the positive aspects as before I took this course I was really wary as to the quality of the tool but I have seen first hand in this module the quality of responses it can generate.
I’m looking forward to using in the classroom come September.
It is clear from this module that the potential uses of AI tools are limitless. In this instance, the impact of future teaching, learning and assessment is exponential.
It was also noted how AI should be used as effectively and efficiently as possible, with the user constantly considering the ethical nature of using these tools, ensuring they are being used for the common good.
What I loved most was the description of it as a learning partner or teaching assistant. I was amazed to see how specific or concise the information generated could be and also how engaging, creative and meaningful the content was.
The biggest take away for me was in relation to the prompts. I hadn’t given much thought to that before but it is clear that the more specific and detailed your prompt is, the better the outcome. That made me reflect on spending more time on the prompts to allow for better and more meaningful outcomes.
