This module has been very informative and interesting. A blended/hybrid approach to teaching in the classrooms takes an approach that will suit the 21st century technological world we live in. It makes the learning fun and innovative for the pupils and teachers. The SETT Framework should be used to help determine the appropriate tools to assist an individual child. I will be using this approach in my lessons this year.

Literacy activities and topics can all be presented to children allowing them to respond to activities in different ways that take their ‘barriers’ away. Group work can be very effective here. Children as a whole are more engaged when we encourage them to be creative and work together. The lessons are more fun and interesting to the pupils. The School Development Plan should reflect this and should be inclusive of all children.

Thank you for this interesting module, Shona Muldowney.

This module has been very useful and I have learned lots about the supports available for Literacy & Numeracy. The School Self Evaluation (SSE) is a great tool to use as an aid when planning lessons and teaching. The Literacy & Numeracy strategies are very informative and I will use these in my future lesson planning and in setting pupils targets for the school support plan.

I incorporate Literacy & Numeracy strategies in my daily lessons. I use concrete resources. I use a lot of online resources which I received from doing an SET course. The course shared a huge variety of resources for teaching Literacy & Numeracy in a fantastic padlet bank of resources. I also incorporate Music into my Literacy & Numeracy lessons-songs, nursery rhymes, rhythm, composing etc.

My implementation of technology enhanced learning will change how I plan lessons this year. I will now be able to incorporate more technologies and Assistive Technologies into my lessons. This will also be useful when I plan lessons and assign online digital homework on google classroom.

        Thanks, Shona Muldowney

          Part 1:

I designed a lesson by installing Office 365 on the tablets in my class. I planned a Literacy lesson where pupils would learn about using the correct punctuation in their writing. Both pupils have dyslexia and find the dictate option and spell check very useful on Office 365. Pupils will also focus on correct use of capital letters, commas, full stops and speech marks.

We will discuss the lesson orally and then pupils will complete a written task, on google documents.

The pupils will then go on to use Immersive Reader to review their typed piece of writing.

          Part 2:

The principles of the Cosán National Framework allows teachers to plan their professional learning. It is fantastic that it also takes into account the changing needs of their pupils/students.  Critical thinking and reflection by teachers is crucial when planning a framework for pupils learning.

It is excellent that Cosán includes a vast amount of areas outside of Numeracy and Literacy such as Inclusion, ICT, Wellbeing etc. The diagram is brilliant and outlines the key elements clearly.

CPD is crucial for teachers to improve on their planning and keep up to date with new resources, policies and ideas.

I have taken a lot of useful ideas from this second module about specialist high tech options and using Microsoft 365. I found the Microsoft resources very useful.

Having never used Immersive Reader, Dictate and SharePoint as an AT for Inclusion; I have learned a lot about how to use these. I look forward to incorporating these into my planning and teaching lessons using these fantastic resources.

I look forward to using video clips, podcasts, immersive reader, dictate, one note and share point in my lessons. I think many of my pupils will benefit from these resources and will bring a more interesting way of learning for the pupils, especially for the visual learners and pupils that like to watch video clips and type their work in goggle docs.

I feel more confident using these resources in my planning and in lessons.

            Thank you, Shona Muldowney

I have learned a lot from this first module about use of ICT and Assistive Technologies to support teaching in SET. I found the Microsoft resources for remote learning very useful. These will also be useful in school and for homework assignments. I had not heard about some of these resources before so I learned lots from practising using them.

From reading the documents about The Digital Learning Framework, I learned a lot of new information which I can now use in my teaching and in school. The standards are very important and provide a great structure to aid with planning lessons.

The Digital Learning Framework resources will be very useful in supporting children in their learning. The resources for creating a Digital Learning plan are very interesting and informative. The PDST Learning Frameworks provided a lot of new information and ideas. I was not aware of the Digital School Excellence Fund or STEM School Excellence Fund.

I found the SETT Framework very interesting. The two parts are very informative and will be useful in my planning for pupils learning.

The case study around putting the SETT Framework into practice was very useful. It will be a great help when planning pupil’s school support files.

I found module 1 very informative and gained a huge insight into digital technologies and how to use it to support pupils in an SET setting and also in class. Thank you, Shona Muldowney.
