Lesson Plan incorporating AI – WW2 theme of bias and propaganda
Objective : The child will be able to identify bias in propaganda used in WW2.
Describe why propaganda was used
Create a propaganda poster
Learning Experiences
Intro :
Using historical propaganda posters from both Axis and Allies , discuss the different messages portrayed in each.
Discuss the themes of bias and why it is used in war time propaganda.Development;
In pairs children use picture analysing AI to find the different examples of bias in the pictures.
Children can then use generative ai to create propaganda slogans and discuss whether the slogans are biased or not.
Experiment with different prompts to create more or less biased slogans.Differentiation : sentence starters available to children struggling to start.
Conclusion: Groups can use AI platforms like canva to create their own propaganda posters and discuss how effective they are with the class.
Having made my way through this course and experimented with a variety of AI tools and platforms, I fully plan on integrating AI into my classroom this coming year.
To begin, I will highlight and demonstrate some of the AI tools we may be using in our teaching and learning: Chat GPT, Drift, GAMMA, Magic School, Canva. We will look at some age appropriate tasks and activities that will become commonplace in the classroom this year and discuss different lessons that can incorporate AI. Children will also discuss the pros and cons of using AI as part of their homework. In the classroom we will further discuss the benefits and drawbacks of using AI as part of our lessons and whether or not there are any areas that we will chose not to implement the use of AI.
Following this I will introduce a range of lessons where I have integrated the use of AI. The class will get to experience the use of generative AI firsthand and discuss its effect on the lesson.
From here we will continue to implement use of AI in different tasks and assignments to present work, assess their own ideas, organise information and extend their learning.
We will constantly refer back to important considerations when using AI such as looking out for bias and in accurate information as well as protecting personal data and information. Its great to see the variety of ways that these tools can be used across the multigrade classroom. Differentiation has always been a difficult concept in the modern classroom and had become endlessly time consuming. Tools like Diffit really allow the teacher to cut these time constraints to a minimum.
There are some very valuable resources discussed in this module. The two I have found that stood out to me were Magic school and Gamma.
Magic school is a great resource where there is a quick route to many of the activities and assessment types that I would use in the classroom. It provides easy access to create and use everyday resource like quizzes, rubrics, writing samples. All readily available and in general seem very reliable.
Having experimented with Gamma it seems to provide the modern teacher with very specific and editable teaching aids, all within seconds. These resources have a variety of use in the classroom at teaching, learning and assessment levels.
For teachers, time efficiency is the main draw of AI tools. Valuable teaching time is saved by having a huge variety of good resources that are versatile and easily editable at our fingertips. For learners these tools are providing engaging, visual and dynamic learning experiences that in the past were few and far between
\they also allow for easy personalisation.
Catering for children with additional needs becomes much more simple for the teacher and allows them to differentiate all lessons in seconds. Allowing the teacher more time to spend actually speaking with children and developing relationships rather than focusing on lesson content is a step in the right direction.August 15, 2025 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #241009AI can transform teaching and learning in a variety of ways.
Children can develop greater independence in their own learning and begin to develop more responsibility for their learning through access to AI tools. Generative A! Tools like Chapt GPT/ Gemini allow children to simplify reading, summarise texts, use prompts and develop learning pathways.
AI allows learning to become more interactive through the creation process. Creating videos, quizzes, short stories and more.
Children can also receive instant feedback on their work, use AI to highlight mistakes and suggest improvements.
Teachers’ time constraints can be helped by using AI to create simple and effective resources. AI can be used to analyse writing samples and create spelling lists, grammar lessons and reading strategies based on individual children’s needs.
There will be many challenges when using AI. Differentiating between students’ own work and that of generative AI will be very difficult. There is also the argument that using AI tools will rob children of their own creativity as problems can be solved instantaneously.
Children who have grown up with modern technology often take information at face value and will not fact check or attempt to prove authenticity. As a result teachers will not only have to plan for what they will teach but also the capacity of AI to generate incorrect information
AI has basically unlimited potential in the modern classroom. A versatile teaching staff and student body can really take advantage of AI to make teaching and learning both efficient and accessible.
For teaching and assessment it can really relieve the time constraints teachers are under to create, prepare and evaluate teaching materials. Multiple resources are available within seconds and can be easily adapted to the teachers specific needs.
As a learner , when taught to use AI correctly it can really help to develop capacity for learning.
More difficult topics can be quickly and concisely be simplified for those who are struggling.
Likewise, topics csn be made more difficult, include more specific vocabulary and enrichment activities.
AI can be utilised as an assessment tool both to create and evaluate activities.
Care must be taken with AI and all responses should be carefully reviewed before acting on the information, resources or activities that are generated.
