I agree Barbara. The imagery and music are very captivating, and it would be a good idea to using short snippets from the HOME video.

The HOME video shows us aerial footage of 54 countries and how our behaviours are impacting climate change. As this video is ninety minutes long, I would use short clips, maybe 2-5 minutes each, to discuss different ideas and messages. After each clip, I would pause and discuss what they noticed, which environments look healthy, what looks damaged, how they think that will affect our climate in the future, what we can improve and what we can continue to do.

I agree Sīofra, I feel like Paxi’s video made challenging learning content much more accessible for students.

I feel like activity 3 would help students to develop a better understanding of the greenhouse effect and future climate changes. I like the way they suggested assessing student knowledge. I feel like Paxi’s video about the greenhouse effect would be an excellent stimulus for discussing new vocabulary and identifying common misconceptions that students may have. Dividing students into groups to explore to calculate monthly average temperatures based on high/ low emissions promotes learner autonomy. I think it would be excellent if a worked example could be provided to show students and they can use this as a reference.

I completely agree – STEM needs to be integrated into students’ daily lives through real life examples and hands on activities. The more connections students can make, the more it reinforces the learning.
