Microsoft Teams offers an all-round platform for efficiently managing shared resources in both departmental and classroom settings. Departments can use Teams to centralise documents, schedules, and communication, fostering collaboration among members. Classrooms benefit from shared resources like assignments, presentations, and discussions, enhancing engagement and organisation. It has an awful lot more to offer than I realised before engaging with the course.
Challenges may arise in terms of getting staff members on board and technical know-how. Training may be required for some users to effectively navigate and utilise Teams’ features. Balancing access and permissions is vital to maintain data security and privacy. This is something the Digital Learning Team would have to consider. Ensuring consistent resource updates and proper version control can also be challenging.
Opportunities are plentiful. Teams allows real-time collaboration, enabling multiple users to work simultaneously on shared documents, increasing productivity. The platform’s chat and video capabilities enhance communication and can be used to facilitate remote or hybrid learning. As well as this, Teams’ cloud-based nature ensures accessibility from various devices, meaning staff members/pupils don’t have to be together when they’re working on a project.
In conclusion, Microsoft Teams is a great solution for managing shared resources in both departmental and classroom contexts. Despite challenges related to adoption and data management, the platform’s features offer ample opportunities for improved collaboration, organization, and engagement.
I am using PowerPoint 2016 on my Microsoft SurfacePro and do not have access to the ‘Recording’ function. I cannot enable it using the instructions provided in the presentation either.
I have attached a link to my sway on ‘Thinking outside the box’. This is a way in which we can ensure children are equipped for the working world. I have included some ways that this can be achieved in the classroom.
Education is undergoing a remarkable transformation. ICT has woven itself into the fabric of learning, transforming traditional teaching methods. This shift is marked by a shift from static textbooks to interactive digital resources, enabling students to engage with subjects in dynamic ways.
ICT offers a huge range of benefits, enhancing the learning process and preparing students for the challenges of the modern world. Online platforms and educational apps cater for various learning styles, fostering individualised learning experiences. Real time feedback encourages self assessment and growth. It also nurtures essential digital literacy skills equipping students with the tools to navigate the digital landscape confidently. We have found this to be very true with the use of the OLUS suite of lessons.
By integrating technology into education students cultivate critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication (some of the 21st century skills mentioned) through digital mediums, invaluable skills for their future lives. While the integration of ICT in education offers unprecedented advantages it is crucial to maintain a balance, ensuring that students develop a holistic skill set that includes social, emotional and digital competencies is of huge importance.
August 8, 2023 at 4:09 pm in reply to: Module 4 – Digital Learning and School Self Evaluation #203511Consider how you can use Digital Technology in your classroom to enhance students learning?
Use of the apps mentioned in this course, e.g. One Note, Excel, PowerPoint etc would enhance students learning. We started using a programme called OLUS Education in the last school year. Each child has their own profile and they can progress through the IT lessons at their own pace. OLUS provides lessons in Digital Literacy, Coding and IT skills. We have found it brilliant and are hoping that as the years go on the children will continue to build on their IT skills and build their confidence in the use of the various programmes.
How can you now apply School Self Evaluation Guidelines to your teaching?
In using the SSE guidelines it is a great way to ensure that you are continuously reflecting on your teaching and working to improve. It’s a reminder to evaluate what you’ve done and put a plan in place to make it better next time.
What impact can developing your own use of Digital Technology have at school level (SSE)?
In my opinion any and all use of Digital Technology benefits the children in the classrooms. Teachers learn so much from each other also.

I’ve attached a link to the OneNote Notebook that I’ve created. I am an admin deputy principal so created the type of document that I see myself using throughout the year. I think it will be a very handy app for use in my role. It is so easy to share with everyone.
There’s huge potential with this app – it’s a great resource to have as it can be used over and over again, with it being really easy to make small changes where needed year on year. More and more could be added each year.
As part of our IT team in school I will make sure to bring the lessons on this to our staff’s attention as I feel it would be widely used if people were aware of it. The resources created using OneNote could be shared on our staff share, if teachers were agreeable on this.
As a school we have been using Google forms since Covid times – I had no idea that there was the option to do it through Microsoft 365. We have recently started using 365 across the school for storing all our files and we find it brilliant. I would hope to switch to Microsoft forms in the new year as well. One of the thing we are hoping to focus on in the next academic year is homework and how we assign it. I have made a sample questionnaire that we could send to parents. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ShareFormPage.aspx?id=Oxi8nLXaIk-WEBMKkbR9bd3U7gcQYzpKv-bBFbcn26BUNVFUR0EzNEFSSlIxRkdOWEVDS0pZOE9QSS4u&sharetoken=C8KGBQ4cfUnivLGu32Er
These would also be very useful for classroom teachers for assessment purposes. Our IT team put together a list of useful resources at the beginning of each year- this is definitely something that could be added to the list.
Again, I had never heard of Sway before. I think it would be very useful for our weekly parents newsletters, our termly ‘Good News Newsletters’ and our staff newsletters.
