Thanks for a very informative module. I loved the piece on Diffit and Gamma. I have a very diverse ability range in my next class and am looking forward to using both tools.
Diffit provides primary school teachers with a powerful tool for differentiating instruction. I like the way it instantly generates reading passages, vocabulary lists, and comprehension questions tailored to various reading levels. This supports inclusive learning by ensuring all students, from struggling readers to advanced learners, can engage with the same topic meaningfully.Gamma enabled me to create interactive and visually engaging presentations without requiring graphic design skills. Its AI tools simplify content creation, and allowed me to turn ideas into polished, multimedia-rich lessons quickly. I hope this keeps young learners more engaged and improves their understanding through visuals, storytelling, and interactive elements suited for their age. I have spent hours preparing PowerPoint. Gamma will save so much time! Thank you

It was quite an eye-opener to learn that China have invested millions in developing the systems for analysing children’s learning in such a one-dimensional way without taking the pastoral needs of the child into account. This is certainly not my idea of a child-centred approach.
July 22, 2025 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Module 2: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education #234610AI has the potential to transform the teaching and learning experience in a 5th class primary classroom from my personal experience by personalising education, increasing engagement, and supporting differentiated instruction. For example, AI-powered platforms like adaptive learning apps can tailor maths or reading content to each student’s ability, offering challenges to advanced learners and reinforcement to those who need more practice. Tools I found useful this year include speech-to-text or text-to-speech can help students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, making lessons more inclusive. I emailed the book companies, and they sent me PDF copies of the books on our book list, which worked very well using Immersive Reader.
As a teacher, AI can reduce administrative tasks by assisting with analysing student progress to identify learning gaps. AI tutors like chatbots can offer real-time support or answer questions during homework, helping students outside the classroom.
However, challenges exist. I still face a steep learning curve in understanding and integrating AI tools. There are also concerns around data privacy and ensuring equal access to technology for all students. Despite these issues, with proper training and safeguards, AI can become a powerful ally in fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment if used correctly.
Hi Lisa,
I agree that AI holds an important role and beneficial role in teaching, learning and assessment in our classrooms but an abundance of care should be exercised while using it.
AI tools have the potential to revolutionize teaching and learning for 5th class students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). For instance, Google Read&Write supports SEN students by offering text-to-speech and speech-to-text functions, enabling them to access and produce written content more easily. This helps those with dyslexia or writing difficulties.
Khan Academy’s AI-driven personalized learning paths can adapt content to a student’s pace, reinforcing areas where they struggle, which is valuable for SEN pupils who need extra time or different approaches. AI-driven apps like ModMath assist students with math-related disabilities by providing step-by-step guidance for solving problems, reinforcing understanding through visuals and interactive support.
In assessments, AI tools like Quizlet or Socrative offer instant feedback, allowing teachers to adjust instruction based on real-time performance. This fosters a more inclusive classroom, where SEN students can receive targeted support, enhancing engagement, independence, and learning outcomes.
Despite the cited advantages, I am still dubious about AI’s trajectory and all of the ethical considerations including copyright, GDPR. Teachers require CPD in this area.
