You have correctly asserted that the nub of Ehigie’s article is to ensure that we work to move children from being classroom pupils to global pupils. Acknowledging the connection to ‘global’ concerns, whilst also focussing on the unique association with one’s own locality is very important in this matter. The use of images to inspire discussion around inequalities and natural disasters globally is an effective way of engaging pupils, and ties in with the idea of ‘multimodal’ texts, espoused in the PLC.
