This is a lovely idea and really allows a community to come together and celebrate diversity. Extending it into a community initiative would be a lovely way to introduce cultures to one another in a communal setting. Making it a celebration with food, music and crafts is a wonderful idea and really creates powerful links and mutual understanding of others.
